Roles reversed, what if your chairman wanted to change your name and drop the Athletic for Black Cats? How would you react, or your fan base?
as soon as you enter the premier league you move from the FA jurisdiction ... that is what the big deal of the "golden share" is all about .. we are not governed by them now unless the premier league refer us to the panels for card decisions etc .. and point of fact . the FA did not refuse it . they never got asked about it by the allams .. but don't let facts get in the way of your stories .. the allams did not apply this summer for a name change .. they changed the business name , that's all
On the link, I think it explains the discussions that have taken place with the league, which show it isn't cut and dried. If it isn't on the link, it's on a few of the other threads. They authorities are unclear on what the procedure is for a name change, but they're not supportive of it in principle and are not supportive of the chairmans actions so far. Of course they could change their mind, hence the campaign from fans of this and other Clubs.
You seem to be ignoring the fact that the Premier League still also call us Hull City AFC ffs... They have the same stance as the FA, why are you blind to see this? It has been said over and over yet you ignore it.
I've worked with some of the world's richest men over the last 10 years and their minds don't work as we might imagine. I see Ken bates quite often and he's like a creature from another planet when he speaks to you. He has zero interest in anything you may say but 100% certainty in his own concept of everything. If this owner of yours is similar then you're dealing with an entity you will never have the means to be able to reason with.
The FA rules clearly state that a football club (even if its in the Premier League) wants to change its playing name must apply for permission. He hasn't applied for permission and it hasn't been granted. He's not playing with the campaign it putting two fingers up to the FA and the Premier League. Now they can lie back and take it, or they can turn around and explain to him about the club he's in and the rules he's expected to follow. After all the publicity I suspect we're not going to wait long to find out their response.
I wouldn't get too hung up on people referring to one or the other on here. The campaign group are in discussion with the ones that would need to approve it.
2 I understand your view of the situation, but I believe it is flawed inasmuch as it relies on your own perceived order of events and their implied importance. Let me explain: When I say that AA or his cronies will be having dialogue with the FA / PL, I do not imply that these discussions have been conclusive or are complete; the truth is that is extremely improbable. I have never said anything is a done deal. His team (regardless of the murmurs from within, there is a team and AA is the leader) are fishing and establishing their ground, they are sizing up all parties in play by being deliberately provocative in a way they can later deny. This is the deliberate blurring of the difference in meaning and understanding of the club and business names. AA understands that the campaign will treat him with respect (the reasons have been amply reasoned on here), he also understands that it's impact will reduce when he makes another big gesture - although, in truth, the impact of the campaign is already questionable. He is using this to work away in the background preparing his next position. So what will his next position be? Perhaps he will harden up on the transitional name, Hull City Tigers, then he will make application for the official change, showing that media and supporters use the term. He can use the season ticket application to gain a favourable vote by loading it with promises of . . . . . . .but who knows, just be sure he is not a fool, his approach is not random and he will only give ground when he receives something in return.
because the owners have not asked for the club name to be changed , just confirmed the business name is what it is .. yes they will apply and use the CTWD meeting as consultation .. but as it stands now you are right ... although anywhere outside England we are now hull city tigers on tv and everywhere
Rule 3 (l) of the FA Rules covers the point. He needs the permission of the FA to change our name. Just as we've always said. Page 5 of this document http://www.thefa.com/thefa/~/media/Files/PDF/the-fa-2012-13/2012-13-rules/fa_rules-2012-13.ashx
If Allam could prove that a change would bring in investment and secure the future of the club by way of capital then I'm guessing most fans would begrudgingly accept it. However, this is not the case. He's done no research, no marketing. His intention is to spite the local City Council, he's admitted this. Except in doing so he's jeopardising everything good he's done for Hull City.
We remain puzzled that Dr Allam cannot distinguish between the name of his holding company and the football name of the club he owns. Until he registers a new name with the Football Association, the club remains Hull City AFC. His belief that we are already called Hull City Tigers, a name ripe for shortening, is therefore spectacularly ill judged and erroneous. Our group has already had extensive contact with key figures at the FA, and we anticipate they will take a dim view both of this announcement and of Dr Allam’s rubbishing of our club’s proud history at the meeting we had with him last week. Let us be clear - Dr Allam CANNOT change the football name of the club without approval of the FA, who in turn require consultation with fans of the kind promised by Dr Allam when we met. By claiming we are now called Hull City Tigers, he has announced a new name and gone back on that promise - it took him 10 short days. We have seen the academic paper that Dr Allam has based his name shortening strategy on. He has apparently only read the first page, we have read all 59. The paper is entirely irrelevant in that it has nothing to do with sports businesses and nothing to do with business success. It is a paper about stock market gaming - apparently stock brokers are more likely to trade shares in companies with shorter names. To conclude - we remain eternally grateful to Dr Allam as the saviour of Hull City AFC and the man whose money propelled City to the Premier League. But we believe a man that breaks FA rules, breaks his own promises within days and rides roughshod over our club’s proud history should not go unchecked. We remain determined to do everything we can to retain Hull City AFC as our club name. Our campaign continues - indeed with today’s announcement it is clear that it has only just started. http://notohulltigers.tumblr.com/post/66699844040/club-statement-a-ctwd-response
what the **** don't you get .. THEY HAVE NOT ASKED THE PREMIER LEAGUE TO CHANGE ITS NAME THIS SEASON >>> THEREFORE THIS SEASON WE WILL BE HULL CITY AFC ... is that really that hard to grasp .. you are quoting a "club" name .. which is the business ... nothing to do with 11 vs 11 on a pitch ... I really think this is where a lot of people are getting confused (rightfully I might add)
I'm speaking entirely for myself now as other people's views may differ. Personally I'd do what I did with the badge change, the naming of the stadium, the shirt designs, the 'entrance music', the shirt sponsors and all the rest .......... totally ignore it. I know exactly what Sunderland means to me, my family who came before me and my sons who'll outlive me. I've seen owners, managers, players and staff come and go but I'm still there. Your club in in your heart & soul, not on a balance sheet or a company directive. Bollocks to it all, Sky, stupid kick off times and all the bullshit .......... my policy is clear. Go to the game, have a few pints with decent people, sing and act like a madman if we score. That's all there is, you can't fight these people so just enjoy the bits you like and **** the rest. Don't waste a season in the top league fretting about meetings, campaigns and boycotts.
Also, The FA and Premier League want fan consultation that contains ALL of the season ticket holders. I said this earlier to you, and it has been said many times before, but once again you ignored.
I find that rule more in favour of allams than anyone: A Club competing in any one of The Premier League, The Football League, The Football Conference, the Southern Football League, the Isthmian League and the Northern Premier League shall not be permitted to change its playing name (i.e. the name under which the Club competes in a Competition), as recorded on Form “A”, save with the prior written permission of Council. Any application for a change of playing name must be received by The Association before 1st April in any calendar year in order for it to be considered by Council for adoption in the following playing season. Council will use its absolute discretion in deciding whether to approve a change in a Club’s playing name nothing to do with fans there , and these are your quoted rules ..
you know who started the "fans consultation" bit saying season pass holders etc ? ... me .. about 3 months ago when OLM started the thread about matchday programs ... funny how things stick when people want them to ... see my post above quoting the FA rules .. fans consultation means jack in the broad scheme of things .. what do you think matters more .. 5000 signatures .. or £5000 pounds in the decision makers pocket ?
This is how I feel, I'm not for a name change, but it's the owners prerogative to change the name. I know we are Hull City, everyone else knows we are Hull City. Is the prerogative spelling correct? I've never seen it written down and it looks really strange!?
