I've only seen them once. That was at the old Art College on Anlaby Road....must have been '67, and it was the first time I'd ever seen a light show. 'Interstellar Overdrive' went on forever! Fantastic stuff!

The old art college was near Regent cinema, you had regent then a little alley that went to paragon station then a newsagent then art college before you got to Ferensway.
Nice little place for a concert back then. Not sure what it is now though, think it might be some kind of art gallery if my memory is correct

Thats Tower cinema, it was across the street from the art college but it was always a cinema as far as I know.
Maybe the art college rented the place for concerts but art college was deffo across the street from there.
First job I ever had before I went to uni was at New York Hotel a few doors down as a grill chef. I see the place is falling down now with weeds growing out of the roof but it was fairly posh in the day, cost almost 2 pounds for scampi and chips :)

I'm afraid you're wrong John. The Tower backs on to Paragon Station, and the Art College is/was between it and Europa House on the corner of Ferensway.
The Regent is/was opposite the Tower, across the zebra crossing. Further on (on the left, going up Anlaby Road away from the Cecil) is Midland Street and then comes the New York Hotel.

Dunno how to put the pic in, but this is the link:
