I started to resent him after the Melton comments two-years ago. I knew it wasn't going to happen, but was uncomfortable having our owner use us supporters as pawns in his personal cat-fight with HCC. I let it slide and told myself to stop being daft, that he was a brilliant owner who was doing good things for our club. By May of this year, he was a God to me. Similar feelings as those regarding the Melton situation bubbled up every time someone on here mentioned seeing 'Hull City Tigers' or 'Hull Tigers', but I told myself it would never happen. Such things simply don't in football. Do they? Then in August I awoke one morning and turned on Ceefax to find we were going to become Hull City Tigers. Since then, I have despised the man more than I have ever done anyone else before. I want him out of my football club. He is killing it, and he has made us a global laughing stock because of his own private issue with the council. I have stopped spending money at the club, lest it find its way into his pocket, and will not be renewing my pass until he ****s off.
If he is in talks with the Premier League and the FA why has he announced he has already changed the name? The Premier League has already issued a statement saying the name remains Hull City AFC until he applies to change it. He can only do that in April.
I know part of the Hull Tigers idea is to grow the global brand. Although I don't think we'll quite get Messi and co I have a feeling that although January is not always easy to bring decent players in the next transfer window might go better than we had hoped for. If the transfer window did go well I'm guessing that might dampen some of the opposition to the name change.
I didn't lock that thread, it was a Southampton mod who decided it was inappropriate for their board. This is a forum for all supporters, not just Hull. All I'm doing is showing an interest and asking you a very reasonable question. If you've nothing to hide I can't see your problem.
This is an open forum and I'm asking a perfectly reasonable question ...... what's your problem with that?
Because he is staying in character, obtuse, arrogant and economical with the truth. Yes I do believe he will have had indirect / direct communication with both the FA and the PL, as well as other owners. Why is everyone so determined to believe he is a fool. Can we have a few guesses, perhaps, at just how Duffer might be earning his spurs?
The man has a screw loose. There's no logic to his incoherent ramblings. The fact is he was a God in all fans eyes last May. He saved the club, brought in a great manager, invested money and took us up to the Premier League.... ....So why is he seemingly determined to throw all of that away? And for what? Because it's his pet name? Because he 'owns' the club and feels he can do what he likes? Because of a petty spat with the council? Because he's a slapped arse and doesn't want to lose face? This isn't just a name change, it's our culture at stake here. It's foreign owners coming into our game, buying OUR football clubs and feeling as though they can do what they like. Where does it stop? We've already seen it at Cardiff, it's madness. I sincerely hope that if this does go ahead, which it looks as though it will, that our supporters will take a stand and vote with their feet, unlike those at Cardiff.
Is there a reason you post in these threads? We all know you're a fan of the Premier League as opposed to any particular club, but you just seem to hang around trying to rile us City fans. I understand you're a sandwich or six short of a picnic, Chazz, as it took a dozen lengthy posts for me to try and explain why me not attending matches this season was a futile gesture. But please, for the love of God, spare us your ****witted comments for just one day.
No it will not dampen down anything. I think we are all in agreement that what happens on the pitch and what Steve Bruce has achieved is fantastic and we hope it will continue. What AA is doing is completely separate. I think he is a vindictive spiteful old man who thinks his money is the key to everything. Whatever he wants he thinks he can have by stamping his foot. I have never bought into all this "I am wonderful" thing. All his charity work he does because he can afford to do it but he is driven solely by his own ego. Why else would he call himself Doctor, he bought that name. He may be good in his business world but like I said a long time ago I have spoken to people who he has trodden on on the way to where he is now. Hate to say it but the way I feel now I can see he will take this club down. Aluko has rejected a deal, why. I just think he is capable of a bust up with anyone including Steve Bruce and I can never rest easy whilst AA is the owner of this club. I usually buy a few bits from the club shop for Xmas presents. Well not this year. I have bought a No to Hull Tigers scarf and will purchase anything else they can offer and show Mr Allam that I will not let him profit out of the ridiculous name of Hull Tigers.
I agree and (with what I saw) thought you got rough justice on the 'silence' thread; but if your interest is sincere, could you tell me whether or not you are against a name change?
Hi Jules. I was careful to put might and some in my last sentence. My Dad took me to Boothferry Park in 1973 to see Waggy and co and I cried at Wembley when City were promoted, I cried because unfortunately my Dad wasn't around to see it. I really hope there isn't a name change but I do think an impressive transfer window, difficult though that is in January, might make some people wobble a bit.
