    Just been talking to a bunch of French football fans over Xbox Live on Fifa 11 online team play, and we were talking about football, and they said

    "How the **** are Newcastle getting all these excellent players for low money"

    They were referring to -

    Hatem Ben Arfa and Yohan Cabaye.

    They said that the fact we're getting Cabaye for less than 5 million is ridiculous, and that he's worth more than double that?

    There was 1 Lille fan, 4 Marsielles fans, 2 Lyon fan, and 1 Brest fan.

    The Marsielles fans said they "****ing hate Newcastle" for buying one of their best players for a "ridiculous price". They reckon on form he's worth around 18 million Euros, which is around 14 million quid isn't it?

    They basically said he's a fantastic player, but the fact that we bought him for only 5.5 million was a joke, and that they didn't understand why Ben Arfa would walk out of a Champions League club to join Newcastle, but they said it in a decent way, they weren't showing disrespect.

    we're obviously valued in france and by the french players from our past exploits with french footballers and with current ones (ben arfa)

    also im definitely a huge brest fan :)

    At least the hierachy at French clubs seem to like what we are doing which is how we will be able to continue that.
    Did they say anything special about Cabaye like the way he plays, what he will bring, ect?

    Maybe we should repay the French by exporting one of our top players to them... Get Perch on the next flight to anywhere in France.

    They just said that he's worth more than double what we are going to pay for him, and he's good enough to play at a top 6 PL club.

    That's what i thought. I said it a few weeks ago he's more of an attacking mid, not a one that will hang back like Tiote.

    Good read, gives us a bit more of an insight of how he plays. I hope he is as good as Xavi! <laugh>

    I used to like Bernard and still do, last I heard he owned a cafe in Newcastle somewhere. Does anyone know if he still owns it?

    think the hierarchy love the fact fat mike pays up front non of this instalment crap plus we are getting these players cheap as we are exploiting get out clauses it seems
