I stick by what I said, his finishing the last two games has been clinical but could easily have scored double in the games before glad he reads the forum and takes my criticisms on board. I would have dropped him after hudders but I'm not the manager luckily Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
I dont agree with double, he wasn't as clinical as he could've been admittedly but the only reasonably easy chance he missed was the one on one at brum, other than that they were all fairly hard chances that probably none of our other players would've tucked away. I think he has been great this season even without the goals, he went through a little dry period but was still looking good imo. BMD has done well with him

Okay Elland, well done. Mine's a pint. On Ross, he scores plenty, but could score more. At least he and the team are now creating plenty. Let's just celebrate that. We're still 8th, but yesterday will put us on notice to other teams. Charlton don't concede that many at least at home, & we scored.... sorry Ross scored 4!!! Should make our next fixture interesting. Should also give the club time to get Byram fit.
His new contract now looks a master stroke. He's probably worth double what boro were offering and hopefully he shows them what they missed in two weeks. As for Byram, I'll be getting a little worried if he's not fit by next game
Ross this season - Outstanding Ross during his entire Leeds Career - Average When MTMB wrote that he was just about right, not too many criticised him back then but hey, who would be a manager. I remember debating with Josh last season (might have been the one before that even) when he said Ross who was going through a lean spell at the time should have been dropped a few weeks earlier. Hindsight is a great gift that none of us have, you never know when a striker is going to go on a lean spell and 6 games without scoring or net a bag full. On another note we are going to be in trouble if Ross picks up an injury, the midfield are not exactly helping out at the moment when it comes to scoring goals.
The midfield don't have to score that many Ristac, they just have to continue to create the chances for Ross & Smith to finish off
They can supply all they want in the way of chances but if Ross is injured it won't make much difference. Ross will also hit a dry spell as all strikers do and I still maintain it would be nice if the midfield could start taking some pressure off the front men.
If Ross gets himself injured then I would hope that whoever is given the chance grabs it with both hands, like Brown and Pugh did. Smith, Hunt, Poleon, Blackstock, EHD are all capable of doing it if in he right positions. You never know peeps, we may end up with someone else in January??
I completely agree with this, all pre-season I have been saying that teams that get promoted from this league don't actually NEED a 20 goal a season striker and to prove it, look at the previous teams to get promoted, the last one with a genuine goalscorer was southampton. But for that to be the case, the team need to be getting goals from all over the pitch. Although having said that, Ross is starting to convince me he can surpass that 20 goals this season.
Personally I believe you need at least 70 goals for promotion, I agree there are times this is proven wrong but generally you will need somewhere near 70 goals for a serious challenge. I didn't believe Ross had 20 in him but maybe he has, lets say he hits 25 have the rest of the team even 40 goals in them? No they haven't. We 'might' have an impact sub in Smith or Poleon who might scrape double figures but our lack of goal scorers or those who can find the back of the net is the main reason why I believe we are a mid table team, a shame as usually it is the defence that costs us a promotion chance.
I wouldn't say you need 70 goals, I wouldn't even say that you need a 20 goal a season striker there but we may have that in Ross. We have scored 5 goals more than QPR and only a couple behind Leicester and 1 behind Reading and Forest so I don't think we are really behind on that front at the moment. Cant really see any reason why we would slow down either, think we just need to be able to close out games better and have more games where we are more controlling than so far this season. We aren't a promotion team yet and won't be this season but we are getting there
Only time will tell as to whether or not we're a promotion team Josh. But I certainly think that this new formation will push us to a top 6 finish.

You might do it with a fraction above 60 but even if Ross has his best ever season and nets 25 does the squad have another 35+ goals in it and our defence would have to be squeaky clean.
But Ristac, we are on course for that anyway, a third of the way through the season and we have 22 goals so we won't be that far off and we have outscored the promotion favourites so far. I just don't believe we are in that much danger going forward.
