Swans deserved a win on seond half alone but it wasn't to be . I know people think we should be beating the likes of Stoke but their team cost stacks more than ours
Thought the same. Un done by a long ball, Ash off the pitch and Ben slipping. Plus a long leg of Crouch putting the ball through to Ireland.
There is a thin line between playing good or bad, Its the result that counts, I would rather win playing ****e than lose or draw playing good...
never these are nothing but excuses. these things you mention happens numerous times during a game. We threw the game away by not being disciplined enough in keeping our shape in the first half, we were 2 goals behind playing catch up after that. The penalty shout is our fault as yet again we were winning with seconds to go and we should never ever have been in our area at that crucial time of the match.
On the penalty Dai, don't you feel a touch aggrieved? After all we had one turned down for more of a hand ball against West Ham than the one today, that would have given us a potential win. Consistency on the hand ball by refs is very poor.
Im angry never, I'm angry that our players for the 3rd time have not learned a bloody thing about keeping out of our half with seconds to go.. Its playground stuff that professional clubs must not do unless you have been under the cosh all game..
We should never allow bad refereeing decisions affect our results, and the truth is we were chasing the game today, and playing catch up, and then as usual couldn't keep our discipline, one goal is always a gamble, when will we learn?
exactly what i have been saying dragon. Our home record is poor and we can have 90% possession but if we lose or draw against a side below us then we are in trouble. Its no good saying next time as it has been next time last time and the time before that. two wins spells trouble and huw wont stand for it much longer as we have too much money to lose saying next time...
Well they just slammed the ref on MOTD2 and rightly so. Idiot. On the JDG point, yet again the guy gets it in the neck. Yes he sometimes deserves the brickbats. I've criticised him too when deserved. He was lethargic first half but wasn't everyone? Hadn't our players just got back from a 5,000 mile round trip? Maybe I missed that. We didn't perform as a team first half and everyone was to blame imo. Yet he was the only guy on the pitch in a Swans shirt who can cross a ball with any quality and did so brilliantly for Bony's first goal to get us back in the game. Just saw it again on the box and it was real quality. Makes you wonder what the guy has to do because like it or not he's an influential player for us.
Pull his finger out with defensive duties would be my guess KJ. Sorry but I don't like a slacker, never have and never will. Yes he is good going forward when he gets forward, but he doesn't get forward all the time, so if he is not getting forward, and not helping defensively, what is he bringing to the team at those moments. JDG for me if he puts a bit of effort in will be the type of midfielder we really miss, a midfielder who will support the defence, and get up the pitch. We need him to be that midfielder, until he is, I will prefer others to start ahead of him.
I fully understand that argument but lots of our fans seem to value effort over results. Not many moons ago they were saying "I don't like a slacker, never have and never will" about a certain Jason Scotland. I never understood that. Goals get you results and results get you points. Yes, I'd prefer it if JDG took his defensive duties a little more seriously and there have been signs recently (not today) that he's been doing so. More importantly, on a day where the whole team was poor first half, and on a day when if you can criticise anyone in particular it was our terrible back line who were woefully culpable for both goals the fans are rounding on the guy that got us back in the game. Doesn't make sense to me.
Ah that is different, I don't expect our centre backs to go marauding up the pitch to create I don't expect our strikers to do defensive duties. I don't expect our attacking midfielder to do defensive duties. But I do expect our Central Midfielders to track back, and follow players. I don't expect them to do the CB's role, but just stick with the player, and I always find I am noticing JDG for not doing that. Shelvey has had moments, and so has Britton, so its not only JDG, but its a very common fault in JDG's gameplay IMO. And that is where I cannot accept his efforts. If its ok for him to get forward, then why is it not ok to get back? He doesn't play the AM role. He needs to do both as a CM.
I've already said I see your argument, no problem. But you haven't answered my point. There was a lot to criticise in our first half display, but in particular some Keystone Cops defending from our Defenders. That's what cost us the goals. Yet our fans are choosing to have a go at the guy who extremely influential in getting us back into the game with yet another excellent cross - just the thing we've all been saying that Bony has been crying out for. I think that certain fans have taken against JDG and he'll never do enough for them. Yet again he's the patsy for some when there are other players far more deserving of criticisim imo. I'm not saying your points on JDG aren't valid, just that he's a curious target when there are bigger ones to aim at.
I thought JDG was the guy pulling the strings in the second half. We lost a few minutes of momentum when Shelvey came on - different type of player, adjustments to be made. And as somebody said a few weeks back - may have KJ or NJ - that JDG is a very slight individual does not have much meat on his bones. That sort of player is not going to go banging bodies. Did he and Britton **** up on that Ireland goal - yep, but JDG was not the sole player at fault and in the second half he put in his fare share of tackles.
I don't think our defending was that bad, I mean the first was just one of those things, Ben slips, Chico then has to be careful with putting his foot in, he does it, gets the ball, but it bounces into the Stoke players arm and lands nicely for him to finish. Thats not down to poor defending. The second goal yes, but then if the midfielder tracked the runner, we wouldn't be talking about it. Were our defence really that bad? I personally don't think so. Could they have done better yes, of course, but then I am not finding big problems in any defensive individual liek I do with JDG. Hence why I always seem to pick on him, but then I have also picked on Nathan and Routs this season, but I find they are starting to get it right, and tonight was a great effort by both, so no criticism. Cannot say the same for JDG. Thats the 2nd or 3rd goal we have conceded this season which would have been prevented if JDG had followed the runner. Yes he was influential up the other end for the Bony goal, but if we are chasing a game, would you bring off JDG or Leon? Most would choose to take of Leon due ot JDG's more influential forward play, but ML decided to take of JDG, I thought that spoke more about JDG's performance than anything else.
I see both sides here , im not saying that JDG was the main roblem yesterday I just thought that when shelvey came on there was a noticeable shift in attitude. Problem is that JDG will always be the better footaller,by that I mean that he moves the ball much better . I don't blame anyone player for yesterday ,im trying to look at the positive aspects more if I can. if we want to look at costly mistakes then jdg, leon, chico and davies were the guys to blame for the goals . JDG did put in cracking ball for Bony to score so he evens out his error , but there was a moment in the game where tackles were flying in and that was a time he needed to match the players around him, he didn't do that though and that was disappointing for me,he didn't get carried away with the passion ,didn't feel the need to win important tackles when they were there to be made, that annoyed a lot of people IMO. It is however true that JDG gets far too much stick when players like Ben and Chico drop bollock after bollock and still seem to be darlings of the terraces .
