Yes we were once he'd sorted out the dross. Wins at Forest and Bramall Lane remain highlights of the last 5 years or so.
I think most people are not really bothered that much about Pearson now. A lot of people acknowledge what he actaully did for the club, as we wouldn't be in Prem had he not come in and sorted out our squad and brought in a few decent players such as Chester. I think it was the way he left that pissed off people the most. His footballing style at the time, although usually effective, really did not help him win over the fans either.
You are constantly spouting bollocks on here. Leaving the club was the only good thing Pearson did for us. Anybody can piss off and alienate people, that's not doing a "good job" that's just being a ****.
I disagree, he brought in James Chester, Robert Koren, Liam Rosenior, Robbie Brady (I don't think he'd be here or the player he is now had blockhead not given him that initial chance) who are all key players to our current squad and others who contributed to our promotion.
Take Brady off that list its Steve Bruce who has brought him on leaps and bounds. Brady was very average under Pearson.
Re read the post again. I don't think Brady would be here now if not for blockhead giving him his initial chance. Brady was a complete unknown until then, I haven't seen Bruce pull any unknown 18 year olds out the hat sine he came here. Brucey didn't even go for him in the summer, he only took a chance on an emergency loan once our defence was threadbare. I agree Brucey has brought him on leaps and bounds but that player was in there and I think some credit has to go to blockhead and Walsh for seeing that and giving him the chance.
Sorry Hat, i did realise you'd put that bit in brackets just thought you might have rated him first time round as well. Like you say Bruce only really took a chance on him due to a desperation almost so i see your point.
In fairness, Bruce has brought on a number of players who didn't seem to do so well at their previous clubs. Apart from Graham.
