Fair play, we were beaten by the better side. I think our lads played as well as they could, or at least as well as you would let them, Good luck to you, I don't think we'll be the last team you spank.
Holloway on Goals on Sunday said that Lallana was his player of the season so far alongside Ramsay. "The kid's a genius". He also said that Pochettino was an absolute gentleman, his English is very good but that he just didn't want to do interviews and he didn't blame him! Also said we're going to cause some 'mighty upsets' this year.
Can I just say it's been great having some really good cross thread discussions with the Hull lads. Great bunch!
Yeh, he took it really well. When he ran straight up to dan osvaldo, i imagined him saying "is that how its done?"
Great to see the blossoming partnership between JWP & Clyne down the right and the sound tactics Pochettino is using to get the best out of both players from an attacking perspective. When we play the ball out from the back and Clyne gets it at RB, instead of JWP looking for a ball down the line he will usually come short and allow Clyne to overlap at about the halfway line. If Saints maintain possession of the football the two hold this position with Clyne starting further forward. With Clyne's pace he is far more dangerous and likely to get in behind a defence whilst JWP and his Beckhamesque delivery can simply whip a ball from a deeper position. Bruce highlighted JWP and Hull kept a man on him when Clyne had the ball in advanced positions which meant Clyne had a one v one giving him a chance to get more joy down the flank and we benefitted with the 1st goal
Well there's no wonder you have players breaking into the England squad, apart from the first half hour away at Chelsea, you are the first team to really show us why the premier league will be tough for us. It's nice to see an unfamiliar face in the top three. Till next time
Just watched Lallana's interview on Saints' Player. Asked how nice it was to have a win before an international break. 'Great, we can relax,' he said, then (remembering he was in the England squad) added, 'Except those on international duty'. Then realising he was maligning the others left behind, he said, 'Not that those staying here will be resting...they'll be working hard.' Good save, Adam, don't think anyone noticed
Well done yesterday, lads - a very handy team, with a special player in Lallana. I have to ask, though: is Wanyama as erratic every week as he was yesterday? He looked a real liability.
He can be a bit uneven in his play, it's true. I understand that he was slightly injured yesterday, when he made his error, which may have contributed, I don't know. Before individuals condemn him as a liability, remember that he is 22 and that this is his first season in the Premier League. He can be relied upon, and there's always Jack Cork waiting in the wings.
Tuckin Wanyama was off form yesterday but was great the previous week against Stoke so we are putting it down to "one of those days" for poor Victor. He's still young and learning how to play in the premiership but we are still confident that he will be an outstanding player for the future
I feel this is one of the most perceptive comments ever made by one of our opponents' supporters. That's been the situation in most of our games this season and it's not just been Hull, it includes Liverpool and Man U as well. Unfortunately, the usual phrasing is "we had a bad day" or "we just didn't turn up" or... People just aren't being allowed to develop their games. I noticed the Hull number 6 (Davies) passing the ball straight into touch twice in the first half hour. When his players had a go at him, he gestured as though to say "what options did I have"? That's the core of this, we restrict what our opponents can do all the way to their defence. So they play "as well as we will let them". Great description. Vin
When Oxlade Chamberlain went to Arsenal we were gutted, but also relieved that we's kept hold of an even better player in Adam Lallana. Imo erratic is the right word for Victor Wanyama so far this season. He's shown a lot of promise but he does keep giving the ball away. Jury still out as far as I'm concerned.
