As fans we simply couldn't have asked for any more. Well done Pardew for going back to basics (4-4-2) and dropping Ben Arfa.

Everyone is putting a shift in which is all we can ask and when they do it's no surprise we win games because we have some bloody good footballers in our ranks.

We did ride our luck a bit second half but you make your own luck and get rewarded for hard work. So again a big well done to Pardew and players. We've given ourselves a great platform to build on with two home games coming up. Just a shame the international break is up next.

I now confirm to derby debt repaid! Yeeeeaaaah Buuuddddy!

To be fair I've never thought there was anything to get as low as some did. Obviously two massive wins but I still maintain we are just a decent mid table side without adding some attacking prowess. Its about balance as fans for me, there is more middle ground than we sometimes believe.

If anyone had said our run of Liverpool, Chelsea and Spurs would yield 7 points I'd have thought they were mentally ill.

We were poor but unlucky against Sunderland to not get a point and frankly over the 90 mins of the Man City cup tie we were the better side.

If it was a case of losing the derby to get this kind of reaction in the subsequent fixtures then fantastic!

What we HAVE to do is take that into the fixtures we are expected to win and win comfortably...

I think we all did as we know we have nothing else. We need a striker in January.

If it was a toss up between Remy on a permanent or a new striker (with Remy only remaining on loan) then I'd take Remy. He is just lethal and with him on the pitch we will always be a threat.

Hopefully we can get both though.

Has said he won't make any decision till the summer. I'd be surprised if he was here next season.

All the more reason to go all out for a striker this window.

Well of course yeah. Winning 1-0 is fine once the final whistle has gone but it isn't great for the heart during the 90 minutes.

To be far it's a rarity that Newcastle are able to hold out like they did today to edge a 1-0 win.

Play like that against poorer opponents AT HOME and we should be capable of registering convincing victories surely?

I'm half joking but I do think we need to forget convincing wins and just remember the basics which are serving us well. The danger is changing your plan too much. We are good on the break, and good when we close high tempo. Home or away, regardless of oppo, I'd stick to that for now.

Haven't been able to rep ya for ages, guess i need to be more of a slag!
Totally agree, i remember a thread after Hull i think on our fixture list and how we were fuked. I commented we had to see it as one game at a time and we must maintain that theory now because as great as it has been to watch us win when we are the underdogs, i need to see what we'll be like for the next game we're faves in.
No doom and gloom though, we've shown over the last 2 games that relegation shouldn't be an iota of a concern this season, that is progress in my mind. Still unsure of Pards but, credit, his tactics have been important to the result both times.

Madness really. We were all really worried ahead of the cardiff game, hoping for 4 points at best out of the next 5 games. Here we are with 10.

Not all of us were really worried. I was lookin for 7pts and we got 10, albeit not from the matches I was expecting.

I'm not really worried about the state of the club. We've got a good team, we spend within our means stopping us competing at the top but I'd settle for best of the rest and we've got a team capable of doing that. We're going to lose a few games and play bloody awful to boot but when we do there is no need to get so dramatic about it (2010). Accept we won't win the league and are unlikely to be as awful as last year. I'm just happy, win lose or draw, if the team turn up and have a go and play some good football.

One more win and we're half way to the magic 40!

Can't tell if we're all high from the results or the intense amount of alcohol but congrats too, NE on a roll, now that's rare!

Next match is against Norwich so my money is on a disappointing result. This is what NUFC always do, pull off the unlikely wins then get big-headed and complacent. The next 2 sound winnable but I'll be shocked if that happens.
