"We will see what happens, but whatever happens, Alberto is not left in the middle of the road as he still has three years left of his contract with Liverpool"

    Aquillani's agent.

We aren't there to just be used! I know he was probably peed off about being shipped out by Hodgson but he's gone now. And he's a big boy now, he either wants to pull on our Red shirt with pride or get lost. Players are so pampered now days

He's made it quite clear he wants to stay in Italy. We can either drop the price, hope another club pays up or force a player who doesn't want to play for us to come back. That's not his fault.

It sort of is. Aquilani could show the club a bit more respect. We were the ones who spent a year getting him fixed up and spent big money gambling on him, I can't believe he doesn't feel he owes us at least a year. He's not mentioned Liverpool once this year, just Italy this Italy that and as a result has driven down his price like Mascherano did. As far as I'm concerned Aquilani can just **** off. There, I've said it.

I think it's more about the way he's agent is phrasing it such as.. We're his backup option and his current contract means little to them. If that were so, then why did he come in the first place? Total disregard for his employer.

If he was a normal employee and turned round to his boss and said "I've got an interview at another job in a few weeks, if I get it then I'm gone. If I don't get it, then I've still got my job here I guess..." Then the boss would turn round and fire him on the spot.

His agent is doing what his agent is supposed to do. His job is to look after Aqua, not LFC, just as unions are there for the good of their membership, not the country as a whole, despite the politicians whose job that is trying to make out they are.

The agent stated a fact that if Liverpool play hardball on the fee then he'll be coming back. Frankly, I think Aqua's been more honest than the club because we're making out we'll take him back if we don't get the asking price when we're all pretty sure he's not part of the plan.

Aqua said he wanted to stay last summer to prove his worth to the fans but we got shot of him. And now you're saying he owes us? Where was our loyalty? You can't blame Aqua's agent then dump all responsibility onto Hodgson. Hodgson represented the club, just as the agent represents Aqua.

Yes but he should know that no one liked Hodgson, and we all thought it was a bad idea. Now we have the King it's all changed. Someone needs to get that through to him!

So it's his fault because he didn't trawl the forums? Yet you can make a judgement on him based on one sentence taken out of a fuller quote from his agent?

So what if nobody liked Hodgson? Nobody knew what would happen last summer when we shipped Aqua out against his wishes. Sometimes you've got to accept the consequences of your own actions. You can't say to the bird who dumped you because you never clean up that you finally did the dishes so it's back on, baby. The love is gone, you had your chance and you drove her away.

It doesn't matter where his loyalty lies. He has a binding contract to the club, why does he think he even has a choice to move on wherever he pleases? We pay him, we have the last say in the matter.

It's disrespectful to refer to us as the last resort; after the amount of money we've paid him, the time he's spent being looked after by our physios for the best part of 6 months. He may have said he wants to stay; but after one season on loan he's ready to pack it all in and leave. That's the sign of a weak person to me - if you truly want to fight for a place, then you fight for it, you don't up and move as soon as you have competition or get shafted for a season.

It's not just Aqua and his agent though; it's representing everything that's wrong with professional football at the moment. Player power > Club power, and as long as we're paying the ridiculous wages it'll stay like that.

TBF It's based on quote after quote this year of how he hopes Juventus will sign him, with not ONE mention of Liverpool. It's highly unprofessional, like Ze said, to be spouting out how you love your loan club and want to move there when you're still employed by another one, regardless of the situation. Unfortunately this will go down as another one of Roy's huge **** ups, don't know why he felt we had to loan him out.

You argue a good point Muppetfinder, however Aqua man must know that it was only ever Hodgson who wanted him to go

Things are different now, he does owe us in the respect like ZE Liverbird says. We took a risk with him after Alonso left, and he was pleased about coming to us. Why not give us a season, if KK is happy with that

He might suprise himself, maybe he thinks he isn't good enough for the Prem?

It does set alarms ringing though that Juventus have decided not to sign him (I do know their mangement changed) All the AC Milan stuff is just speculation from what I can gather

His agent pointed that out and caused this ruckus. Now you're doing it.

He has a choice because we got rid of him. If we really wanted him back he's be here already. We do have the last say in the matter. It's called a contract. And it cuts both ways.

I didn't read any such quote that said last resort. It says he won't be left in the middle of the road, i.e. without a club. I get what you mean but we're a last resort because we're trying to sell him.

And if you don't want to fight for a place and you say you'd rather stay where you are that's the sign of an honest person to me. To my mind saying you want to stay but really only wanting the big wage is more offensive and disrespectful.

That's a whole other ballgame. You could say as long as we're paying ticket prices and TV subscription fees it'll stay like that. Supply and demand is a dynamic. We, the fans, make the demands that our clubs buy top players. If you had two companies chasing you you'd make sure you took the best deal for you, not them. I remember when players were treated like cattle, owned and tied to restrictive and grossly unfair contracts. It's hypocrisy to expect somebody who didn't grow up loving the club like a fan to then start behaving like one when you wouldn't yourself.

I totally agree, it has not worked out and all parties need to look after their own best interests.

I for one still can't understand why Hudgson loaned him out and replaces him with Poulsen
But that is in the past

TBH do we need him to come back yes we paid a lot of money for him, gave him treatment on his injury
But we have a packed midfield as it is and if he came back and started sulking we would have a bad apple
    in our team

So i think take any offer over 13mil£ and cut our losses on him

Shame really he is a good player

Aquillani.....you should be happy hes not here. Did he ever do anything that was considered good in Engliand?

Let him play in the slow as hell italian league, any sort of pace would end his career.

BTW, completely off topic....OP.....are you a Goth or something. Are you angry at the world? I ask as everyone with a name like Chavslayer tends to be very unhappy and wear black lipstick and hate their parents lol.

Well if any player says they don't want to play for the club Kenny will tell them to **** off and go elsewhere, but they'll leave on Liverpools terms not their own.Fair enough,Liverpool are his employers,He's under contract for another 3 years.Liverpool and Kenny have every right to do so.
He did exactly the same thing with FT,He made it clear he didn't want to play for the club which angered Kenny and Kenny punished him by making him train by himself.Kenny then drop kicked him out of the club when Chelsea made the demanded offer. There was none of the Ferguson bullshit of offering Torres a pay-rise.Torres showed the club contempt and he was treated by Kenny with contempt.
If it were Hodgson however,Hodgson would have begged him to stay and probably would have offered him a pay-rise.Kenny is a different animal,as he said on countless occasions,No one person is bigger than Liverpool Football Club.Liverpool Football Club will always exist.

Aquilani will be off in the summer. We won't be held to ransom though. If he does leave, it will be for a decent price. I'd expect around £12-14M for him. If Juventus don't pay, i've got a feeling another club in Italy would have him for that price.

Rumour has it that Napoli are sniffing around, they haven't as of yet approached his agent, then again neither have AC Milan another club that is sniffing around.I do believe Italy will be his destination this summer,if not and he does come back,he'll have to put the graft in like all the others.
