Their keeper has had to make 3 saves in 45 minutes...and one of those was straight at him... A 16m player gave the ball away twice, a 18m player tackled like a child and we are 1 down. The football was boring, apart from the first 5 mins. We want 2 or 3 touches which shows a lack of confidence We are playing players who are out of form and leaving in form players on the bench We deserve to be behind and are looking clueless And there is no sign of a plan B AVB needs to earn his money during ht or knives will be sharpened cos this is unacceptably bad to watch
Great points Roo. As RCL has already stated whilst we are winning then its harsh to criticise AVB. But with the talent at his disposal he is not getting the best out of them. Imagine what someone like Wenger could get out of our squad. And it is horrible to watch. We have and a few chances but no football that you could describe as great that really broke them down. It's depressing viewing.
Being honest no. I got laughed at by YV for saying. Liverpool would finish above Spurs but that's not to discredit them it's just that the. Premier League is cluttered with lots of good sides but no great ones. As a result even Southampton can realistically push for Europe, if not top 4. What I will say is there's a long way to go in this game and in the season. Spurs are still within touching distance of top 4 despite the sluggish start.

He is a dour robot who hasn't a clue about team setup other then play a highline. Only a complete idiot would play a highline against Remy with Brad in goal and Sandro left on the bench.
He's got to go 4-4-2, as we need to chase this game now, and the tippy-tappy attempt to pass our way through midfield simply is not working.
What a bad first half. It's amazing to see how easily Newcastle get in behind our back line compared to how difficult we've found it all season.
And what's even more infuriating, I doubt AVB will make any changes at half time. He'll wait until there's 30 minutes left, leaving hardly enough time to make a difference. He's as predictable as our ****e build up play. Pass left, pass, right, pass backwards, give the ball away, get it back… repeat!

With the attacking players we have 9 goals in 10 and a half matches is pathetic. Defoe has to come on at half time. Taka Dembele or Paulinho off. Put Townsend on the left and bring Lennon on for Siggy and stick him on the right.
AVB has had a mare with the starting lineup today and there's lots of other things he can be criticised for - which we all do, frequently. However, there comes a point where it's down to the players. Like you say, AVB has a good squad at his disposal, but when it comes down to it, he can't physically control what they do on the pitch. it's up to them, not him. Some of them need to ****ing grow a pair and "express" themselves, as some managers would say.
