Southhampton were an established team in the top league when I was a kid, nice to see them doing well again. As for the game, am a bit disappointed with Elmo this season, he lost form at the end of last season and hasn't got it back, think he needs a rest or some work on the training ground
We could beat anyone on any given day, that's how football works. We have lost quite a few players in our squad through injury, that would IMHO be starters, and they would have made a difference. (McGregor, Chester, Brady and Aluko). Saints are playing well, but you have been lucky with not suffering loss of key players through injury. Plus you've got the likes of Man City/Man Utd/Spurs below you who will finish in the top 4. They are juggling league and European football at the moment.
I think you are the only person on here who thinks Graham has performed well this season. I don't care what he did at Swansea...he's been hopeless for us. And just FYI I haven't even commented on his play for over a month so where you get "every post" from I have no idea. You on the other keep churning out the same bizarre excuses for him in every discussion. As for "boo boys"...i'd say they are realists.
Well he's been next to useless for us, especially considering how much we've paid out for him, he's not delivered at all. In fact, he's performed exactly as the Swans fan I work with forecast he would, who laughs at me and walks away muttering "5million? really? hahaha!". Was worth a gamble I think, to see if Brucie could get him firing again, but at some point we'll have to say enough is enough.
not arguing about them making a difference , its always a plus to have all your players available but as i said even with them , with us at the top of our game we would have still won (we have 11 better players even with those 5 in my opinion simple as that , if you read my posts to you before the game i stated that the game could go either way , i never doubted that, and i know that anyone can beat anyone in this league .......we have lost 1 all season and it was to Norwich , and we are a much better team than them ! im really not as i have had to say many times before being arrogant but we are a better team , and i truely respect steve bruce and Tom hudd for there reflection in the interviews . As for the you have man city , utd , spurs etc below you etc comment , im not sure why i needed telling that I agree that they will more than likely finish above us , they have proven that they are capable of consistency over a season with there squads where as we have to prove that we can do that but we are matching them at the moment and , i have never in one comment been arrogant or cocky (or meant to) so just accept it and maybe wish us luck ? ...surely it would be quite funny and nice seeing us come above say utd . We have also had injuries , every club does thats something you have to deal with . Luke shaw , Osvaldo , steven davis , Guly , James ward prowse , are ones i can think of off the top off my head who we have lost at some stage already this season . truly believe we are underestimated by alot of clubs fans ,we also have quality international players only making the bench such as Yoshida (japan) gaston ramirez (Uruguay) etc . Do i think that come the end of the season we will be in top 4 .....no ......but I would love us to prove all the doubters wrong , and if we can achieve consistency , we are proving every week that we are capable . wow that was long ...must rest .....
Sorry but that is completely arrogant. If it was simply the case of a club having the best 11 players on paper to win a game, then we may as well hand the title now to Arsenal/Man City or Chelsea. I'd also suggest Liverpool have 11 better players than Southampton, but it didn't stop you causing a shock at Anfield, by winning. That is how football works, there aren't any gimmes.
not too sure that you are really listening .........briefly try one last time ......yes anyone can beat anyone , im not being arrogant ......all i said that some people are making a big thing about you having 5 players out and how it would have been different , all i said that in my opinion even with those 5 we still have 5 better ! ....does that mean we would have def one NO ...I simply stated that we are a better team that you which I dont think that many true hull fans would deny .......and in answer too your question liverpool definately dont have 11 better players than us , (key word being "11") as we definately have players that i feel would make there starting line up ...Luke shaw for one ! ...and before you fly off again does that mean i think we are better than liverpool no . .......its weird how i walked back to the car with about ten hull fans and not one of them thought i was arrogant ! and all agreed , as i agreed with them that you will be fine this year and look a good team ....all i was simply stating is that yes ofcourse you can beat us , any team can beat anyone ....and yes those players may well have made a difference , but i feel in my opinion that when we are at the top of our game we are too good for you at the moment . Im not talking over one game im talking in general
I didn't see the game, but listened to it on Humberside. I'm not sure the system would of made much of a difference. To much is made of systems. People who said we played better playing 4-4-2 in the second half, the game was over then. Soton would took the foot of gas. Soton look really good side and it's nice see them developing English players. I don't think they'll get in the Champions League, but they'll easily be top 10 and it wouldn't surprise me to see them have a good cup run. As for City. It's probably the first time we have been really outclassed and it shows our lack of depth. We definitely need a striker in January and a couple more creative players. We look a little predictable without Brady and Aluko. Overall I'm delighted with our start, it'll get tougher and have big games coming up.
Its a fair post not sure why glennon isnt reading it right. As a bonus its good to see English players doing well
It's interesting to read some of the Southampton fans who reckon for a period of about 30 minutes we were about the best side they'd seen there. No shame in losing yesterday, they were simply better than us. But each of our players can feel proud of their performance.
I suggest you re read his earlier posts. I'm reading it right, he's basically saying that they'd beat us with our better players included in our starting 11, because Saints have a better squad. I'm not disputing they have a better squad, but that isn't how football works. If it was all based on who has the best squad on paper, then what's the point in kicking a ball.
As said, no shame in yesterday: beaten by the better team who do the right things right. No ill feelings towards Soton, always (so far in my life) been neutral towards them. I offer them my best wishes for the season in return for bully ramming our rivals.
Why is that unreasonable. He rates his players more than ours. We didnt have 5 missing anyway did we? He's not gloating or giving it large is he. They looked ****ing great and he's rightly proud of em.
I don't think there are many reasonable City fans who'd disagree with him. We were beaten by a better side yesterday, if anything it's a good reality check for some on here and a stark reminder that this season will be very similar to our first PL season. The same idiots who hounded Brown out will do the same to Bruce, the same idiots who "spotted" Bullard out and about will do the same to Huddlestone and it'll all get a bit nasty.
I didn't quote 5, that's his quote. But we were missing Aluko, Brady, Chester and McGregor. I think his statement is quite arrogant.
Look, Phil Brown was ****ing useless and Bullard was a first class ****. I don't how many times you need this spelling out? Phil Brown isn't fit to lace the boots of our greatest ever manager - Steve Bruce.
When Steve Bruce keeps us up then we can start to consider whether or not he was our greatest ever manager, but until then it's premature. Besides, by that time you'll have turned on him because he isn't pushing for Europe in his second PL season.
