I can't remember seeing a player booked for time-wasting in the first half before. This Leeds team were Revie-esque at times. FRom the NW it looked like a clear penalty when Church had his back leg taken. I couldn't make out exactly what happened for their 3rd goal. Hamer started to come out but then changed his mind, but I'm not sure how McCormack won what looked like a defender's ball. Not a pretty game at all, due to the conditions, Leeds' gamesmanship and of course the result.

i dont know how we lost that. my only complaint about our players was the mix up with hamer and jacko for their third. jacko was at fault as he was nearest and just let it go. shouldve hoofed it or nodded it out for a corner.

i dont mind loosing too much. but when it's to a bunch of cheats it really bugs me. they were time wasting every time they went ahead. their fans only sung when they were in front. they remind me of watford in that respect - cheats + no class.

we shouldve had a pen in the first half, and their pen was a 50/50 shoulder charge - only issue was that the guy who went down was softer than ice cream. ref really ruined it today, totally inconsistent.

the replays will show they won. but we had the possession and we dominated them completely. i'm not worried about us anymore this year, we'll be safe easily

Do you not see Barnsley being part of the relegation scrap V-a-V? - I think 15th will be the highest we'll finish this season and not to be too negative I'd be quite happy with that

I remember reading that McDermott wanted to bring back a lot of Leeds traditions (the waving to the fans when the players come out etc...) maybe to cheat and play shocking football is another

On another note was shocked to see on the BBC website that we had 64% possession... Has a team every had that much of the ball and not only have lost but to have conceded four?? the scoreline today definitely doesnt even begin to tell the story

Played pretty well today so not too depressed, we just came up against McCormack in inspired form. Much better side, ref was poor (missed their pen as was in the loo) but ref seemed very dubious today, Church was a blatant pen, was either that or a bookable offence for a dive surely? Shocking refereeing decision.

We'll be fine if we play like that not worried about relegation, I said it at the time, but was gutted when kermit came on we just played lumpnit up field when all game we'd played nicely even with the shocking pitch. Wiggins and Church both played very well, but was gutted when Sordell came on, was like playing with 10 men whenever he plays.

Still hacked off this morning about Leeds gamesmanship. The number of times one of their players went down with nobody near, then another team-mate would rush over, look down and wave on the physio- what was all that about? None of their players suffered an injury. It wasn't as though they were even looking for free-kicks, because the writhing around didn't come after any sort of physical contact, it just seemed designed to disrupt play.

I have got no complaints. Yes, it was frustrating to watch, but you have to be cute enough to beat what is in front of you. We weren't. We are talking about an average Leeds side, not Real Madrid.

At the end of the day Leeds won because they have got a better keeper and centre forward than us.

Did you see how McCormack managed to score their 3rd? I know Hamer came out then changed his mind, but it looked a defender's ball all the way, next thing the ball's over Hamer's head into the net. What happened there? I didn't see properly.

it was jacko. he thought it was going to go out and tried to shepherd it out. except mccormack got to it and put it in the net. hamer berated him, because he shouldve made sure it went out

A total of eight minutes stoppage time was added, so that negates any time wasting. Unfortunately it is part and parcel of the modern game.
Could've gone either way really, thought the division's largest travelling support were magnificent. We deserve a bit of luck after some of the dross we've witnessed on the road.

Anyway good luck for the rest of the season <ok>

Not quite sure why the Charlton faithful are whinging:-

    see http://forum.charltonlife.com/discussion/57823/charlton-leeds-post-match-views

Time wasting aside (i'll have to take your word for it, I wasn't there), Paddy made a few decent saves (that's why he's there) and Ross was clinical in his finishing (that's why he's there). So get over it and move on.

Quote "Just heard someone say they only had 4 shots on target? I can believe it. We should have been comfortably winning by half time. Don't even know where to start with the ref. Leeds fouled, cheated and time wasted their way to victory. Their players should be embarrassed."

The BBC stats suggest otherwise regarding the fouls count :)

Your team deserved to win, no complaints there, what really got my goat was they seemed to make every attempt to disrupt play by going down, staying down and calling for the physio when they weren't hurt at all. It wasn't even a factor in the result, either, just horrible to watch. The fact that it was a different player each time, and no-one was injured, made it appear a cynical ploy.

Pretty sure we were singing all game. Remember after the first goal it was only level for 3 minutes at a time, most fans go quiet for a short period after conceding. What you didn't see is what we normally do, carry on after a couple of minutes of quiet, because we scored again.

The third goal was Jackson's all day to clear I hate the Hamer bashing and all this they were better than us ..rubbish we lost yes but come on and would you really want us to play like they did and lets face it Leeds are along way from goin up and we won't go down.
As for their support you can't knock it brilliant as always.
Even my train back to croydon was full of Leeds fans .
Bit like Man U they were one of the first teams to get support country wide back in the 70's when I was growing up.

Regarding the supposed "play acting" and "time wasting". I didn't see the game so I wouldn't be able to agree or disagree with you but that'd make it the first time this season that we would've done that. I'm not a fan of it at all and thats what NW had us doing a lot last season which irritated me no end but this season I have to say we have been fairly good in that aspect.

Anyway, just happy that Ross is hitting the back of the net coz we could sure use him on form. Good luck for the rest of the season <ok>

Obviously gutted with the result, but very pleased with the performance.

I would be reluctant to say we could not defend. 1st goal aside their goals were a combination of questionable refereeing decisions and individual errors, in open play Leeds caused us very few (if not any) problems at all.

In terms of our play I was very impressed, the lads really gave it a go and it was excellent to see. Some of the link up play, particularly down the left hand side in the first half between Stephens, Jackson, Wiggins and Stewart was superb and we cut Leeds open on several occasions. It was pleasing to see us creating so many chances at relative ease.

Our switch to more 'long ball' tactics once Yann came on actually co-incided with Leeds appearing to be playing a flat back 5 that would not be drawn out higher no matter how much short and side to side passes we played. Stephens, Cousins and Jackson were forever showing for the ball in that second half but the way Leeds defended left us with no room at all around their penalty area in which to penetrate the box, it was either go longer in an attempt to get a knock down in the box or revert to speculative shooting from 30+ yards.

With regards to the Leeds time-wasting, as much as it is part and parcel of the modern game, it is incredibly ugly to watch. I was only 20 yards away from Scott Wooton going down injured off the pitch, dragging himself back on only to instantly go back down (the referee instructing him to roll himself back off was one of the few things he got right all afternoon). Worst of the lot was Michael Brown, rolled around screaming when beaten in a hard but fair challenge from Michael Morrison (booking for that was an absolute joke) but then spent the rest of the half diving into tackles with no attempt to win the ball, how he escaped his obligatory yellow card is beyond me.

Overall, a good positive home performance, cut out the individual mistakes and await our luck with referees to change and we should be fine.

Cheers, Josh. I just hope your players don't think that they won this game because of the dark arts, if they do you probably will see more of it. They won mainly because McCormack had a daft day.

Surprised Palace didn't go back in for McCormack in the summer. Definitely one of the best outside of the Premiership, and he was different class on Saturday. You can't have anything but respect for him after that.
