after the second half, and as you and many saints fans have stated

this gives me hope we can survive

it gives us hope, ofcourse the 4-1 scoreline seems to 'embarrass' us, but on the day your quality of players just sparked that quality, it gives me hope from the second half, from a hull pov, we always expected to get a spanking now and again, and i'll be the first to admit we didn't expect the first to be from southampton ( now that's no disrespect, we've played chelsea and man city away) but it's weird complimenting an opponent so much, but you didn't need any dodgy referee decisions or the like to score any goals,(the penalty was nailed on, to be fair) it was just pure quality and i can respect that! i sincerely hope you finish as high up the table as possible!

He's been around since 2006-7. Look on Youtube and you'll find a great individual goal from him against WBA [I think] from back then. He came on for his debut, aged 18, and scored with an arrowed shot into the far corner. He's always had the superb skill and football brain, but he's been in the lower divisions with Saints all this time, and he's a bloody loyal lad. He has already said he wants to end his career a Saint, which says oodles about him. He lives and breathes this club.

It took him a season to really make the step up to the PL, and Poch and his staff have brought to the fore all his best attributes and almost eliminated his few weaknesses. He's the most skilful footballer Saints have had since Matt Le Tissier.

Had a real go at finding Adam's debut appearance on Youtube, but I couldn't find it. Watch this fan video though and listen. The quality isn't very good [tbf, it dates from 2007] but it's unmistakeable. On the Youtube site it talks about a wonderkid. Saints are in yellow:

Really don't think Hull fans should be too worried about that result.

They ran into a Saints team that clicking on all cylinders the first half. If we play like that all year long, we will win the Premier League. We were that good. I'm not sure if Saints can do that, but it's not that relevant for Hull supporters.

They showed a lot more spirit and tactical nous than Fulham. They ran into the wrong team on the wrong day, or they ran into a juggernaut who will also defeat all their rivals. Either way, they did enough to easily survive if they keep that continue like that. I wouldn't have been upset last year at a loss like that when we were in Hull's position.

There is nothing wrong with the Hull team...they have spirit and will still be here to clip our heels next season.
I don't know why they or Sunderland have a problem with each other strikes me it is a bit school playground-ish. Hull will be a different proposition up there, that's for sure.

Well done Piri. Good find on the Lallana debut goal video. That's the one. I was putting all kinds of keywords including Lallana debut goal and got nothing. :(

Canaries fan in peace - Mightily impressed with your display against Hull yesterday and your performances this season. Re Lallanna - I can remember him terrorising us back in our days in league 1 and he was an excellent player then.
So far, we are the only team to have beaten you and not looking forward to the away game, but at least we should have some of our 'long term injured' players back by then.

I was one of many who scoffed at some of your aspirations of getting into the Champions League places, but you're there on merit!!! <eatshumblepieemoticon> <cheers>

Great interview with Steve Bruce half way down. Refreshing to get such an honest and complimentary interview...we have outplayed a lot of teams as we have come up the divisions and most just described us as lucky. Amazing how lucky we have been for four and a half seasons. Interesting that he says he tried to sign Lallana when we were in Div 1, but Adam wanted to stay here. Got to appreciate Adam's love for the club....Mauricio has mentioned it. You can't buy or train for loyalty.

Have been impressed with Hull. I virtually wrote them off preseason based entirely on the fact that they are called Hull. They have had a good start....keep it up and they will be safe with games to go. Good luck to them.

Just watched the highlights and in the glow of the glory of Adam let's not be blind to the quality of Steve Davis's goal. Great control of a fast cross and a beautiful finish. I couldn't appreciate it at the time from the far end of the ground but what a belter.

Something that didn't get much mention on MOTD was Rickie's setup header for Morgan. Sandwiched between two Hull defenders and still managed to get the ball. What a hero.

Osvaldo, tightly sandwiched by two Hull players, also got a header in that made the GK jump. And he nearly scored right at the end when Steve Bruce was reportedly shaking hands with Mauricio. He'll get his second goal soon and then the floodgates will open.

I loved what Steve Bruce said, if you can bring on a substitute who cost you £15 million maybe you're not a small club any more!

Is that the first time Nicola has laughed at a match? He usually looks cross and/or terrified. Who can forget that photo of him watching from a doorway whilst the match was in progress...ready to bolt for his comfort blanket.

It may have been a 'threatening' laugh Fran. Kind of "no Hodgson, you will never be safe......"
