This this this. Bale is consistently surrounded by 3 players. There isn't much anyone can do about that. Even Messi wouldn't do much under those circumstances. The problem is that you can't put 3 players on Messi as the rest of the Barca team will put you to the sword. At the moment we haven't worked this out. When we do then Bale will have to be marked less and his performances will pick up.

In fairness to you and PNP, the same is starting to happen with Hazard. Juve were not just doubling up on him but tripling up. The best players find a away around it though as Messi has done.

Yes. Bale has been singled out for "special attention" ever since his performance against Milan. Both he, and the team, will have to try and overcome this. He's a special talent. To my mind there's really no comparison here. All these Wum's on this thread, they know damn well, that if both were available tomorrow, which one they'd have. It wouldn't be walnut.

Not one person has said Walcott nor Wummed. I think even the most ardent Arsenal fan would agree Bale is the better player.

Messi is a special talent, you can't learn what he does, he can take on 3 players and comes out the other side with a 50% or higher success rate. Anyone else including Bale is likey to get through 2 or 3 times out of 10, with luck. The easiest way is not take them on, pass it. If 3 players are near you there's a massive gap somewhere else, the right pass could take these 3 players out of the game...your shins stay in better nick too! I speak from experience as a speedy winger myself. :)...not now of course! :( ...speedy whinger perhaps! :D

Bale had a few "outstanding" months... The rest has just been "good"... Still has alot of work to do, and I don't think he has a great footballing brain either.
In all honesty, I think a move could see him become even better.

He's still better than Walcott though.
But if Walcott was actually played upfront, he could be class.

Only because his contract's running out! <laugh>
It's funny how quickly their opinions change about their star men just after they move or when it's clear they're about to.

Agree with you completely, but what happened to your pace? Beer Belly? :emoticon-0136-giggl

Tell me about it. Just the other day my cousin was telling me how they are "better off without RVP" and he "held the team back".

  9. I disagree. If Walnut was any good at football, he'd not have been stuck out on the wing by Le Prof. Walnut is not a footballer, he's a sprinter, and he only looks good against numpty teams who haven't got the technical know-how to deal with his one-trick-pony style of play. Decent sides make him look exactly what he is - a headless chicken.

Anyway, quite apart from that, he's far too slight and weedy to make it as a centre-forward.

Most the time I can't be bothered with HIAG's wummery but this was quite funny. The last line about wum-free debate really sealed it for me.

They're paying him £100k a week and he wouldn't even get in their first team at the moment! At least with Adebayor the problem was he turned into a ****, Walcott's just a bang average speedster.

When you look at Bale as a physical specimen now, it's like comparing He-Man to Alvin & The Chipmunks. It just doesn't work on any level now.

Bale got us 85 million, which we used to buy Chiriches, Eriksen, Lamela/Soldado, Paulinho, Chadli and Capoue. Walcott would never get half as much.

So Bale was still the better player to take from Southampton. By a greater distance this year than last year.

  16. I'd forgotten that I'd started this post.

So many comic gems from your inimitable HIAG!

Others can merely dream about having someone like me among their ranks, whereas you guys have me all to yourselves.

    Thanks HIAG.

It's good to know that the hours spent fighting your corner have been so worthwhile. <laugh>

We have you all to ourselves? Is that because you are banned from everywhere else?

  19. They're always worthwhile, my friend. An enemy of banter is an enemy of life, is what I always say.

    Or a Gooner.

    Same thing.

  20. AFC, Chav, and 'Pool boards.

The collective mean age of all posters on those boards is something like 13 years and 7 months, which explains why they have a few slight problems with my humour.
