I have NO idea how we manage to win 3-1. However a win is a win and we were clinical to a degree! I am having whiskey and loving it!
I insisted that we scored & won the game by more than a single goal, & i am satisfied on both counts . I love Hooper & Fer & have slated Snodgrass for his bad displays thus far & they all scored = Happy, why sack Hughton after that ?
My interpretation of the game is as follows. The players were told to stand off in the 1st half and concede possesion. 2nd half they were told to press, we get a fortunate goal, we then get a freekick. The 2nd half only seems so good because the 1st was so bad. Our passing and rate of chances only became better when we had the space when they had to come out. Hughton got it hopelessly wrong in the 1st half and just corrected his error. Also West Ham are not very good
I dare say you were thinking the same as everyone else on here - CH looked devoid of ideas, and was facing the most important 45 of his recent life. What has to happen is we get the same level of performance, or better, in the next game, and not roll over again
I really doubt they were told to do this. That is certainly what happened but why on earth would Hughton ask his players to do this?
I was certainly fearing the worst Thai, but I was also thinking, poor sod hasn't had much luck with injuries, we've had to pull that one out of the fire with a sadly depleted team!
Didn't think we would win or draw that game after going a goal down if I am being honest, the players looked uninterested in the first half. Thankfully what ever Hughton said in the dressing room worked, looked much better in the 2nd half. Happy for CH, not saying everything is ok now, but hopefully we can push forward and string some good results together. Best thing about this result though is now for the first time in a while I can enjoy the weekend and watch MOTD and Super Sunday lol.
Because they had 6 in the middle Players are told before where to press, they don't just make it up when to do it. Are you saying that everyone individually decided to do this?
No, I think it was more the case that it was difficult for our team to press them consistently when they were so heavily outnumbered in midfield. That is the error for me. Although we won, I still think it was naive to play 4 men in midfield when you know the opposition will have 6. Furthermore, the two strikers weren't pressing the back four enough which made it more difficult for our midfield men.
