There has been alot of talk about playing with both Britton and Canas.

Could this ever work? (or are the lose of Rangel and Davies too big, for that extra midfielder)?

Easily exposed on the flanks, we are not very good at dealing with crosses and the three central defenders formation invites crosses.

Britton and Canas should be able to help closing down the opponents back.

Cant see the back 3 working. More likely we sacrifice a winger and ask more of the full backs.

I cant see a back 3 working either, but I do like the thought,, its not like our fullbacks are contrubiting a lot.

We don't have the most confident defence this season and 3 at the back won't be good enough imo.. leon would be my choice every time as if laudrup lets him control the way we play in the engineroom then his passing is second to none, Routledge and dyer are my choice on the wings also with canas as the other midfielder. I would play De guzman just ahead of the midfield with a free reign (sweeper) and bony up front on his own hopefully not static but terrorising the defence.. Pojeuelo on the bench as cover and i would also have donnelly on the bench as its about time now that we started to show faith in the lad who is scoring for fun in the U21's...

Love to see Donnelly get some game time in front of Vasquez.

The 3 at the back concept would be interesting to try and we have the three players to do it with Ash, Chico and Amat. But, and this is the problem, we don't have wing backs and our wingers are not defensively solid enough to play without a recognized back behind them - at least the two Jokeren1943 listed. Toshack made this work beautifully for us way back. Instead of Routledge / Dyer, you would have to play Davies / Rangel and give them license to be more offensive - this could work until you have to play Pablo. And you have to play Pablo, either as a winger or in place of Poz with the 3-defender concept.

You would also have to teach Rangel and Davies to cross much better than they do now.

The young Irish lad look really lively in the Europa League play-off's, I too would love to see him given a chance to show what he can do.

Without Rangel and Davies we'd be completely shafted.

Really hard for the lad but the Pleoisti game showed he'd a million miles from starting for us. Positional sense not there, not that quick, decision making needs development and attempts on goal should have been better.
Not saying he won't make it but not ready now.

I tend to agree in part Bob, that game was his first start and it must have been difficult for him. It was unfortuante that we got knocked out of the Capital One cup as this is where he might have got some game time.

Not for me though I'd have Canas and Britton in there next couple of games. Not as if they can't pass. Wingers. Poz and Bony can then concentrate on attack
