Steve McNamara has just been on SS and said that he's proud to be bringing his England team to his home City. He says the Hull people are passionate about their sport, PARTICULARLY Rugby League....oh, and the football team isn't doing bad either...so that's put us in our place!
To be commended for bigging up Hull, but the passion for RL seems to be lacking loads of spare seats at our stadium today and plenty of out of town pie-eating mouthbreathers in town today. Somewhere between 10 and 15 k people from Hull in the crowd at the game today. Rugby hotbed. Not.
Fact is, Hull is full of rugby people. There are people wherever you go who love to criticise football and go on about how it's for girls and RL is for men. There seems to be a disproportionate number of women who are like this. These people obviously don't go to games because in terms of attendances the sport is miles behind football in Hull.
**** knows. Why would you go on about your love and passion for Rugby all the time but not go to games, and criticise people who support football and do go to games.
Exactly how I feel when some media know-nowt trots out the tired myths about this 'rugby-crazy town'.
The game was actually almost a sell out, there were about 24500 tickets sold, so I can't quite understand why there's so many empties. Still about 20k there id think.
Allow me to explain. RL is not as popular as its apologists believe. They can give out free tickets all they want but something is devalued if you have to give it away for nowt- and many tickets ar given to folk who are just not interested. How bad is it for RL that even by giving away free tickets they still have big spaces of empty seats?
Where were tickets given out for free? You can say that all you like but the only people who got freebies were those who were doing the half time or something similar. If they were giving freebies surely fc staff would get some?
http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/Free...tickets-Hull/story-20046390-detail/story.html Not summat you can easily find online when they are trying to persuade people to buy tickets at the same time....
100 tickets? Omfg. That's made a huge difference to the crowd of 25000+. I didn't Google it, but if your giving tickets away to fill the ground you'd go for fc staff would you not?
I don't know mate. Would you? Hull awash with freebie tickets for games in this competition- owt to fill up the grounds.
Give it up, your getting boring. Of course there were out of towers there it was an ENGLAND game, not a Hull game. As for the spare seats, that was 166 short of the stadium record. Nice to see plenty of people in rugby shirts asking for the City score as well.
Good result. Poor start, but we responded well from the shock of Fiji going infront. We ran away with it in the second half, as expected. Can't see us doing owt against the Kiwis though.
