the game is a big one , but its bigger to them than us . As has been said , we can actually afford to lose , (fucking better not lose tho ) , with 2 points wriggle room in that scenario. They cant afford to lose , they are already huffing and puffing to catch up . 11 points off the top would be a bad bad thing for united . Especially if the other teams near the top win too , they would be dropping further into the mid table territory . so we will have less pressure on us . Damn im not sure , do we play better UNDER pressure , or with the pressure OFF ? Better ask that Chelsea fan , he knows all that stuff .
No team can "afford to lose", if you lose that could put three teams within two points of you. All points count!
jeez you are starting to sound desperate. Of course we can afford to lose. Thats what a five point gap gives you . If we win its great , if we lose its not a total fucking disaster ... therein lies the difference . You on the other hand CAN NOT !
This is precious aint it .? Remember when we had the worst start to the season ever . How many Utd fans were saying , oh well the table dont mean nothing till February . They were dipping their bread in our sorry state , and now they seem less than amused when the shoe is on the other foot . How quaint.
it seems the same WUM merchants that were saying "its only been 5 games and its too soon to say", are know saying "its only been 10 games and its too soon to say". the old adage that you cant win the league in November is true - but you could be out of the running by then ! if we do get 11 points clear of manure then that would be a great advantage only over them, and would put them under increasing pressure to not drop any points for the rest of the season. we need to maintain our 5 point lead for as long as possible because the moment we drop any points the WUM merchants will start saying that we have blown it and that the wheels have come off and all the other doom and gloom cliches they can drag up. it is how we react as a team [and as fans] to dropping points that will be important. all i know is that it feels good to be on top and its been too long since i have had that feeling. confidence breeds confidence so the team just need to keep playing this way, and we could do without distraction of international friendlies. lets see how we are doing at end of month, then at end of December. if we are still on top then we will get a massive boost with new signings in January and from a fully fit squad [except Diaby}
No comfort to me mate, we are not title contenders this year. The point i am making is that a gap of one draw and one loss between first and sixth is not something to feel confident about with ten games to go, when only ten games in it means nothing.
It's about momentum - if you lose you stay top, but lose some momentum. From a neutral perspective, I think you will have too much for them today
