That's it. If we are 4,500 years further advanced from the builders of the Great Pyramid, we can't our scientist work out how it was built? I thank you - goodnight
But humans have only evolved in the last 50-100,000 years. We have a fossil record of that fact. Some ziggurats are still standing, and Sumerian civilisation has left all sorts of archaelogical evidence, that's in spite of most of their buildings being made of mud bricks. From wikipedia: We can track the past position of the magnetic poles by the effects it has left on ferrous rocks in the earth's crust, and there is extensive evidence that nothing approaching a "pole shift" has ever happened. Intelligent humans have been around for around 50-100,000 years. "Civilised" humans, a lot less. It took the development of agriculture to allow us to settle down and develop civilisation, and everything else has followed after that. They had copper tools. And what do you mean by a "perfect pyramid"?
Because it was 4500 years ago, and we haven't yet invented the time machine. We can, however, work out a number of ways it could have been built, using the technology of the time: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Egyptian_pyramid_construction_techniques Are you familiar with Occam's Razor, by the way?
Let's face it God was an astronaut plain and simple. We are derived from other beings in the universe. The sooner we accept that the sooner we can move on.
Aye, and I didn't even use wikipedia. So everything has an explaination according to your good self? That must be nice. Considering the smartest people on Earth make up equations to try and explain the workings of the Universe. They change their theories every few years when new discoverys are made.
Everything does have an explanation, and I'm not claiming that we know them all. I'm just saying it's highly unlikely there were advanced civilisations in the far past who left no trace of their existence. And none of those theories are particularly relevant to this discussion.
There are many theories about how the pyramids were built and I haven't seen any credible ones that suggest they weren't anything more than human endeavour. There is NO evidence of any ancient civilisations with amazingly ahead-of-their-time technology. If there had been we would have found it by now. Are there aliens? Possibly. Are they visiting earth in flying saucers and abducting red necks for scientific experiments? Highly unlikely.
Remember the time when everyone thought the Earth was flat? The Sun orbited the Earth? Columbus discovered the New World, not the Vikings? You do know that only 1% of Ancient Egypt has been discovered? The erosion on the Sphinx is from being immersed in water and not sand? The edges of the Giza Pyramid are a ratio of the circumference of the Earth? I'm sure there's a plausible explanation for all of this?
Remember the time when everyone thought the Earth was flat? No The Sun orbited the Earth? No Columbus discovered the New World, not the Vikings? No You do know that only 1% of Ancient Egypt has been discovered? No The erosion on the Sphinx is from being immersed in water and not sand? who told you that? The edges of the Giza Pyramid are a ratio of the circumference of the Earth? dont quite know what that means
Zico - I understand where you're coming from. History has been accepted with no changes for generations. Just a few points. The vikings turned up in North America but already found folk there. So neither they or Columbus discovered it. How can they estimate that only 1% of Ancient Egyptian civilisation has been found? They have little idea of what else is out there. The ancient greeks managed to calculate the circumference of the earth pretty damn accurately, so why not the ancient egyptians?
I've read a few interesting books like Hapgood. Huge amounts of evidence have been ignored such as the Dogon people of Mali knowing about Sirius B - a star invisible to the naked idea. Their stories tell of visitors from there. These are facts but the interpretation is always 'aliens' which is pretty far fetched. The knowledge came from somewhere but gets glossed over as it is too difficult to explain with current understandings. Maybe current understandings should change to fit new fact.
Okay, if you want a weird one how about the Aborigines in Australia? According to carbon dating and fossil finds they had been there for thousands of years before Europeans discovered Australia. How did they get there?
