They would indeed, but then they would get fleeced for the privilege as well. Most countries abroad pay 70-80 quid for a whole season of football.

It reminds me a little bit of the old pirate radio stations in the 80s, that used to broadcast from tower blocks in south London. Every now and again the Department of Trade and Industry would pour water (literally) on their transmitters on the roofs of these tower blocks - and a week later they were back operational again from a different base.

I'm sure these free, illegal streams operate in a similar fashion, although they don't need to be based in the UK to 'ply their trade' which makes it harder to find / stop them.

In Sweden I pay £20 per month, although admittedly that includes a mandatory, slightly crappy, film package too. In previous years that has included all premier league games, including all the Saturday 3pm games and I've been quite happy to pay it.

Sadly, this year it all changed to stop UK viewers taking out foreign satellite subscriptions and seeing the games. Scandinavian rights holders are now limited to broadcasting a single PL game at 3pm which never seems to be Norwich. Every 3pm game is now shown in full at 8pm in the evening but that means avoiding all football, internet, radio, people etc for the whole of Saturday afternoon in an effort to avoid the score. Not easy when people are so eager to tell you about that seventh goal...<wah>

So inevitably the dodgy streams start to look attractive again. I can't help but wonder whether it was really necessary to have the original agreement not to broadcast Sat 3pm games in the UK. Attending any live match just seems so much better than watching any alternative game on TV. Would it really have affected lower league attendances so badly?

I'd rather be fleeced and watch the game on my TV or in a pub, then on a stream off laptop having to constantly ward off a hundreds odd popups of Russian/Thai Bride adverts, Win an I-phone and Bet 365 adverts.

One of my (unnamed :emoticon-0112-wonde) local pubs had the 'rights' to every NCFC game for just over a season. Viasat, I think.
That has now gone, there's one live match at 15.00hrs and that's in the lap of the gods - as you say, rarely NCFC.
It has Italian commentary, but as football is a global language, that's of no significance.

There's more than one way to skin a cat, that much I do know <ok>

What? You're telling me now that I could have been winning I-phones and Russian brides instead of watching that dross last Saturday? <wah>

Cromer, Viasat is my service. Please thank your landlord for screwing up my Saturdays :D

<laugh> No Dave, from the quality of the adverts I'm quite adamant it's some dodgy fraudulent phishing scheme run by the Russian Mafia.
