When he came to the club he was a Right-Wing/Right-Mid, surely we try him back in that position and put Boyd up forward?
Don't get me wrong I'm an Aluko fan, but apart from his goal at Newcastle and cross for Sagbo at Everton, has he really been that good? I think he often takes the wrong decision and is guilty of running with his head down at times. He has definite potential but being the key to unlock EPL defences? I would reserve judgement till he's played quite a few more games,
"A new contract offer has been on the table but manager Steve Bruce today said talks had been put on hold until Aluko's rehabilitation was complete. Bruce admitted the striker had turned down an offer before injury struck." I wouldn't be surprised if this season was Aluko's last with us.
Plus he did it at Aberdeen. I think given the fact he missed half last season, he'll miss half this season, I would retract the offer and not bother with a new one. I'm sure Brady or Boyd can fill his position. Look for a new striker in January and maybe another winger.
Assuming we could find someone just as capable of getting to the by-line and providing decent crosses, I would like to see Brady playing more centrally again. McGregor Rosie Chester Davies Figgy Elmo Thudd Livermore ** Brady Sagbo Seems pretty good to me. Jury is still out on Elmo, he seems to have faded badly. A winger and someone to push Sagbo for a starting place (I just dont see Graham finding any sort of form any time soon) would be ideal.
Firstly let me confirm that I think Sone Aluko is pure quality on the football pitch, and whilst he represents City will always have my total support. However I'm getting tired of this 'it's a short career, they have to do what's best for them' bollocks, it's completely made up ****e, undoubtedly manufactured by parasite agents, and unquestionably believed by gullible punters and greedy footballers. Aluko signed a two year contract with us in 2012. Why two years? It's certainly not the norm. The cynic in me tends to believe it was to enable Aluko to show how he'd developed in the SPL, showcase his talents to potential suitors. He's done that, but unfortunately, for him, he has also confirmed that he is as fragile as a fragile thing at a fragile things ball! If, and it's a big if, Aluko is back for our first game in February it means that he has the potential to play another 15 games before the end of this season, combine that number with 31, the number of games he's played for us so far, and you have a total number of 46 games that he will have played for us during his two year contract, or around about half of all the games available! It's a great number if you can get it, work half the time, get paid megabucks, retire early, enjoy the good life! (Ask Jimmy Bullard) Now, thinking back to this 'short career' bollocks, we're not talking about struggling footballers here on ****ty wages, Jimmy Hill saw to it that players were 'properly' remunerated! Most, if not all, players that are considered first choice, or even close to being first choice, at PL clubs could stay at their respective clubs for all their career and, when they retire, never have to work again. Think about it, stop with the 'short career' ****e PLEASE, you have been brain washed, or, if you prefer, sucked in! So, Sone Aluko, I'd like you to break the mould of the modern day footballer and their parasite agents, I'd actually like you to do the right thing by the club and its fans, yeahI know it would feel strange! Financially I'm pretty certain that you'll never be a pauper like me! However, if you sign, you sign, if you don't, you don't, we've not only survived without the likes of Fraizer Campbell, another player that f**ked us about, we've prospered, and we will again, to roll out the old horny chestnut, no one man is bigger than the club, and that includes you Sone. Regarding parasite agents, as the Queen was once alleged to have said, 'there are dark forces at work in this country', what she forgot to mention was the undisputed fact that they are ruining the game that we love! Edit :- 'Shawnie???????' WTF PLT?!
Ryan Gauld, at Dundee United, just 17 years old and has made 22 first team appearances since breaking into the senior squad last season. He's also managed 3 goals. Gotta be worth it for the future? If not, the James Forrest at Celtic must be worth a punt.
Not sure if that's a response to my post LBIA but I never suggested anything about the career being short as justification for any actions. What I said was that it is his career, his vocation, his job. He has no emotional ties to Hull or Hull City AFC. If you are offered more money to do the same job you do now for someone else you'd take it. The only caveat would be having to relocate but Sone is a Londoner so a move might actually get him closer to his family.
In short, as much as I rate Aluko I think we should not offer another contract and retract this one (assuming it's still on the table after he rejected it). He's always going to be this injury prone and with his backheel at Spurs Boyd did more to unluck any defence that Aluko has this season. Him and Brady together can provide that 'spark'. And as said above, he signed a 2 year deal purely to use us as a stepping stone, just like he used Aberdeen and Rangers. It's worked for both parties thus far but it's time to move on. Get rid.
I know he has an injury. But the time out will give Aluko the chance to think on what to do. What will be will be. So far all Aluko has done is get that wonder goal @ Newcastle. Others have and are doing far more for Hull City week in week out. Why rush ? Both parties are playing it cool atm.
SB might be and that's only because Aluko is crocked for the next 2-3 months. Prior to that it was Aluko which was holding all the cards. I hope City revise their offer with a comparatively low basic weekly wage, bump up with large appearance bonuses. I cant imagine many other teams would offer him anything more.
No it's not a personal response to anyone otherwise I would have quoted your post, it's just sums up my personal feeling when people start with the old 'it's a short career' bollocks, and I genuinely feel, alien though it may be in these modern times, that players need to man up against some of these parasite agent nowadays and start to 'give something back', yeah another well worn cliche by the football fraternity, they could start by giving back, or showing loyalty to, the club that has given them their platform! This issue is one of the reasons that I feel many are falling out of love with our game. How can you love, or even associate with, something that is rapidly becoming more about disloyalty and greed than skill, artistry and moral fibre? Personally I find it difficult. I live in the forlorn hope that there will be, at some point, a kind of anti Jimmy Hill, someone that sorts the game out and gives it back to the people, I fear that I will have a very long wait!
He might need surgery, in which case he's out for the season. Brucey has also confirmed that Fryatt might be recalled next week. http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/story-20052072-detail/story.html
