Top player and one of my favourites. Not many in the league as professional or clean as Sagna. He rarely moans and always gives it 100%. Some fools actually wanted his head at one point and even say Jenks is better. He's a credit to Arsenal and we're lucky to have him <ok>

I think he was poor for two seasons so I can forgive the doubters out there. Obviously the form dip was a result of repeated leg knack so it's understandable but approaching 30 (at the time) with two broken legs in two years and you can understand the cynicism. I'd love him to sign a new contract but I'm worried he won't on the back of having only been offered a one year deal way back. I have the niggling concern he'll leave us at the end of the season and Jenkinson, for me, certainly isn't ready to replace him.

I've never agreed with Wenger's insistence on only giving over 30's one year contracts. It would be madness letting Sagna leave.

Quite. It's one of a few ways that Fergie had an edge over Arsene. If they're good enough, they're good enough and should be rewarded accordingly. Giggs and Scholes proved this for years and we've punished ourselves with the likes of Pires and Gilberto going way before their time.

Fair play though,Giggs & Schools were only offered one year contracts.
I totally agree with you about Gilberto. We've never adaquetly replaced him.Hopefuly having Flamini back will fill that void.

I was under the impression that they only went on the one year deals when they hit the 34-45 though could well be wrong!

Yeah I was delighted when we signed Flamini (so long as he played like final season Flamini and not moody mid-contract Flamini) and crumbs, talk about an instant impression! I was proper nervous when he got crocked in light of the run of games we had but I doff my cap to Arteta for stepping up to the plate and doing that role brilliantly.

I dont think he would stay even if wenger offered him a 2-3 year contract. Because, and I dont blame him, he wants a phat signing on bonus.
