So this is what everyone was raving about? What a game from lamela tonight. - now I see why everyone who'd seen him before got so excited.

I know it's only been one game... and I know it's pretty weak opposition, but watching lamela's footwork and attacking threat feels like watching a young Ronaldo. (I'm not saying he's as good as Ronaldo before some idiot ridicules me) Or maybe it's the hair.

Lamela needs to start against the Geordies. It's that simple, for me.
Start him down the left and let him and Townsend swap over during the game and we've still got Lennon and Sigurdsson on the bench to change things around quite drastically.

Now that we're through I don't expect to see any of our first XI even making the trip to Tromso, even if it means playing a couple of players out of position.
Capoue can drop into the defence, Eriksen can play in the middle and Kane can partner Defoe up top. We'd still have Adebayor spare, too.

 

That'll do, not great but not bad. The night's about Lamela and Defoe really so I can't say I'm fussed about the rest.

Quite fancy Lamela for a start against Newcastle, if he's confident it'll be good for him to get a chance to keep it going against Newcastle. Not sure how it'll work though as Townsend, Lennon and Lamela all look best on the right but one will have to be dropped and one will have to play on the left.
