From what I understand Sheriff have it easy in their league, so it's pretty impressive how they can organise themselves so well against us.
we are determined to play through the middle...if we can balance alternating with a bit of wing play it would make it harder for teams to defend the edge of their penalty area good to lamela playing with a bit of confidence and trying a few things...dembele looking more dynamic too
I think we've played ok - but I think some credit needs to go to Sheriff who are defending for their lives. The midfield 4 is standing about 1 yard in front of the defence most times and they're pressing really well too.
We may aswell repaint the touchlines 10 yards in...**** it, just join the two 18yard box lines. It doesn't matter who's playing, in what position, in whatever competition, the result is exactly the bloody same...what does that tell you.
Really annoying lack of width and support for the striker, again. Lamela did well on both wings, but Eriksen's too deep and Sigurdsson was anonymous on either side. Considering the amount of games that Naughton's had at left-back, you'd have thought that he'd have worked on his left foot a lot more. Slack. Defoe's whole demeanor seems off.
Another thriller, eh. On the plus side I don't think there's any danger of Naughton playing his way into the side at left back any time soon and Lamela's seeing a lot of the ball. I'd like to see Sigurdsson hauled off, we all know what he can do on the left wing and that's generally very little with a goal chucked in here and there, give Kane another go, or let lennon get some more minutes. Eriksen's been pap, not sure why people are so desperate for him to waltz back into the starting 11 in the league.
Dembele has also been very good. He and lamela look our two best players so far. Some promising football. Nothing amazing, and still a little bit one dimensional, but it's better than anything we've witnessed recently! One step at a time....
Nice to hear the 1882 lot in good voice. Hate to think what the atmosphere would be like there tonight without them.
Paul McCartney on at HT for WHL entertainment : Opponent, you can park the bus. If playing football is too much fuss. Opponent, you can park the bus. And opponent I hate you ... beep-beep beep-beep yeah !!!
Yep, he's been very poor tonight. However, forgetting tonight, we still need to see more of him with soldado. Holtby and soldado together so far has been bloody rubbish. Not expecting anything different if those two line up alongside one another on Sunday.
