I don't think anyone at the time thought Sandro was injured. Didn't look too bad when he went off, hopefully it was more of a precaution than an actual injury. Luckily Capoue's back now and will likely play tonight, so we'll have at least one destroyer available (hopefully) for Newcastle.
No, no one did and the backlash was because Sandro was our best player on the pitch and because AVB has a history of making very odd subs, he is never given the benefit of the doubt. Against west ham at home a few suggested Sandros inclusion would be pointless as we wouldn't need his protection of the back four, we all know what happened, For me Sandro is important, not just agaisnt the top teams but also the mid/lower table teams as he helps in offering superb protection for when the opposition try and counter so I hope he is fit for this weekend.
Desperately trying to get my work done so I can leave shortly for ITV4 - Hoping this is a better game than last time, for Brad to be in goal, no injuries in defence and that AVB decides to try a new attacking style, just to use as a plan B if needed in the league. But we need those co-efficient points so as always I want us to treat this seriously.
Spurs XI: Friedel; Walker, Kaboul, Vertonghen, Naughton; Capoue, Dembele; Lamela, Eriksen, Sigurdsson; Defoe.
Team for tonight: Friedel; Walker, Kaboul, Vertonghen, Naughton; Capoue, Dembele; Lamela, Eriksen, Sigurdsson; Defoe. No surprises really, other than maybe Vertonghen's inclusion at centre-half. Bench: Lennon, Soldado, Paulinho, Holtby, Kane, Chiriches, Archer. No Lloris or Gomes. Don't think the Brazilian's eligible. Nice to see Kane make it.
On the surface it looks like an attacking formation, but Naughton's playing so that 's knocked on the head
Great to see capoue back. A shame eriksen is playing. I'd have like to have seen him on Sunday, with holtby partnering Defoe tonight.
There's no doubting that YV, it's the fact that our rotation system is likely to see him replaced by holtby on Sunday, because he is playing tonight. - if what we've seen so far is anything to go by. Holtby and Defoe have been a better partnership so far and would have been better suited tonight, IMO.
