you lucky bugger, you have only really seen us a prem side. you have been spared so much pain, you have been spoilt. am I the only one that rates ruiz, play him in his rightful position week in and week out and he will shine, he gets pushed to play in all different places, because berbatov to jol is undropable, or am I deluded
I can't state if you're deluded or not, but there is a group of us who still rate Ruiz. The problem is that he would be best off in the 10 role behind a true 9, but that is where Berba plays. So Jol shoehorns Ruiz into the side on the wing and he just isn't good enough in those secondary positions. I'm a little older than Bandit, so I remember the climb up the divisions pretty well. But I was very fortunate to remember mainly from Micky Adams onwards when it was pretty positive the whole way!
thank you, if we had bent and ruiz surely that would work better, berbatov comes to deep, its abit like baird he got slaughtered when played out of position by sanchez, either way when bent plays he does not get a lot of service, you would think jol coild see this, I bet roy would love this squad to coach
I had the same thought regarding Buckingham and the 67/68 season some weeks ago, the Trinder quote just reinforces the similarities..spooky
Yup, you can put me in the 'still rates Ruiz' camp too. I agree with Surlyc's analysis regarding his true position. Watching from a distance I go back to Bobby Campbell, actually attending regularly I go back to the tail end of Alan Dicks. My first experience at the Cottage including the slightly unnerving scenario of standing amongst a large group of men all shouting 'Dicks out!' with great gusto. Incidentally, on Don Mackay's first match I remember one fan starting a shout of 'Mackay out!', then turning to the fans around him and explaining that he was just trying not to waste time.
Does anyone sit in the Riverside? Did anyone see Roy Hodgson on Saturday at about 1430ish? He walked round the bar area, the entire bar clapped and cheered Roy Roy Roy...he clapped back with a beaming smile on his face. A true gentleman. A wonderful moment and then we kicked off....
