Also, let's not forget that the defeat to Spurs, AVB talked about us having a 'spiral of negativity'. <laugh>

Que Gooner to come and say it's 13 wins, and 2 draws, the cup win doesn't count.

I wonder if AVB is related to me. Everything he says, the polar opposite happens <laugh>

Remember when AVB just last week started mouthing off again saying Arsenal are now facing the tough teams and will drop points, haha, ****, since then we have gained 2 more points on the Spuds.

Interesting to note that after the defeat to Spurs, we had 10 or so days to prepare for the Munich game, and what happened behind the scenes in that time was huge. We sorted the defence out as Wenger finally woke up and addressed the issues that were staring him in the face.

As a caller on Talk Sport just said, Bould should be getting a lot of credit too, you've got to say the way our defence is playing, a lot of it has to be down to him.

I think the issue of not pressing and still playing a high line really did hit home after that defeat to Spurs. It was so moronic and lazy, but now we seem to drop deeper and when we do play high up, we make sure that we press the guy on the ball.

We're also more physical now. We don't shy away from challenges like we used to. If i remember correctly, Ramsey's made more tackles than anyone else in the league. And it also looks like Rosicky's been encouraged to do his trademark sliding tackles more.

That was also the game that finally made Wenger decide to drop TV and go for the Kos-Mert partnership, TV was just atrocious that day.

Pretty sure i heard a commentator say in the last 28 games we have played Mert and Kosc as our cb pairing we have only conceeded 20 goals.

TV's horror show gifting that game to the spuds was a blessing in disguise as it helped to cement probably the best pairing in the PL at the moment in Kos and Mert <ok>

I think you hit the nail on the head here. We dropped the idea of playing the "Dortmund" type press and went back to the good old English two banks of 4.

As we can see from today's game, the problem with the press, is that if a team manages to get by it, it gives up rather good chances. Not only that, but it is easy for a team to tire, pressing at a high tempo. If you are not up a goal or two by 60 minutes, you are in trouble.

I think Arry had a bit more charm about him though, AVB becomes more and more deplorable by the interview!

I agree. The only thing I've ever liked about the Spuds was Harry. He had that unassuming charm. AVB just had this unwarranted arrogance. At least with Maureen, he has the charm and credentials to back it up. Avb is just a very unlikeable character with the personality of a wet mop.

Yep, never had anything against Harry really and always wanted him as the next England gaffer. You're right about AVB's personality too, an utter bore who is never wrong. I don't doubt the guy as a manager, but a tit nonetheless.

I want to like the guy, especially after Chelsea shafted him, but he keeps on saying stupid things. But agree with Harry, he was always good for a laugh and a real character. Looking forward to seeing him in the Prem again...
