I can see either side of the go for the cup vs not debate, but listening on Saints player it sounds as if we were crap. Dave Merrington questioning their desire right now.

That's a much bigger problem to me than whether the right team was put out. Whoever takes the pitch should have been better. Doesn't sound like there's much competition for first team places at the moment.

I'm now going to go back to praying for a 3rd round South Coast derby.

For me the midfield was just too slow today, no tempo at all until JWP and Lallana came on.

Didn`t see the game - did anyone do themselves any favours in terms of pushing for the first team then ?

If we fail to beat Hull now I will be furious. I'm warning you now.

    Very funny.

I know he overreacted but you were the root cause of the destruction of the flow of this thread. And don't claim you were just asking a question - you're Wikipedia man normally, yet you kept asking daft windup questions on their board.

Why not think about it before you make a twit of yourself next time?

As I've already explained I've only come on here to be childish so I wouldn't want to 'grow up' would I, it's just a taste of what we've seen from your pathetic little chum.

As I've also explained, every Southampton supporter on our board was met with courtesy.

I've had an invitation to be a 'friend' from one of yours.

So, it was regrettable that we have a little tosser coming on tonight deliberately being a twat.

Instead of just being honest he tries backtracking and pretending it was a mistake.

TBH, him and anyone who defends him can get ****ed.

No surprise in this result bearing in mind our team...very disappointed in putting out such a poor team.
Positives - Read had a good game and looks like a real prospect, Cambers looked good and Corky had a good run out
Negatives - Lee is hopeless, Gaston is hopeless. Our squad needs boosting if we are to progress. Team made of mostly last years defence and it showed how much we have moved on. Sat too deep and the rest of the team couldn't press the opposition for more than twenty minutes at sat back

Shame but hey oh Hull next with a full team!

Not gutted about this considering we knew who we would be up against in the next round and we have a game that needs winning at the weekend, any trophy is great but the League Cup does not get my juices flowing to be honest, I'd be disappointed if we didn't have a good run at the FA Cup, though.

That defence was poor tonight. 2 goals conceded against a bloody average Sunderland team. Unsurprising that they conceded 27 goals in 10 games last season in the league. Still, Reed had a very good full 90.
Ramirez didn't turn up like I wanted him to.

I can get where you're coming from to an extent Tom, but there's even an apathy toward this competition from the supporters as well - I think it's a cup where it's 'nice' to progress, but no more than that. It's an opportunity for youngsters and fringe players to show their worth and be blooded. No more than that really, and it's clear that MP thinks similar.

We don't have a Chelsea sized/quality squad and it's just not worth risking our first team players (who on tonight's evidence are a clear step above their stand-ins) and potentially upsetting our excellent position and start in the league. Financially, psychologically, everything - it just doesn't make sense to do that. I doubt Wigan supporters are still singing about their win last year......

Cork was dependable, but Wanyama for me is still a definite upgrade.

Lee is never going to play a serious game for us.

    Neither CB astounded.

Now for the main event......Ramirez....I have constantly asked for patience from other fans, hoped he was going to come good, but I'm just not seeing it unfortunately. He's not going to improve without games, and playing like this is giving Pochettino no reason to trust him with games. Really gutted, but if we can get anywhere near our money back for him in January then I think it's time to bid farewell.

I'm amazed anyone has the energy to be upset about the league cup. It's a slight pity we didn't do better, but I really don't care very much.

No, you're a ****er who was responsible for spoiling threads on both boards.

Be a wum, by all means, but don't act the ****ing innocent when you're sussed.
