How Did Leeds United Miss Out on Talented Sevilla Prospect and Local Lad Reuben Smith? and remember Tom Taiwo and Michael Woods, supposedly tapped up by Chelsea - where are they now - Hibs and Harrogate Town. Then there is Elliott Kebbie, summer target of scum, currently at Atletico Madrid.... Could they all have made a difference to our current first team?
Great post ... on Reuben, expect him to return to England without breaking into Sevilla's first team, hopefully Leeds are tracking him now ... Taiwo was a genuine talent, Woods not as much, they both lost their way at Chelsea where instant stars are required, no development meant their talent waned ... Bates wrecked the Academy setup, got rid of scouts and quality youth coaches, but at least thst is being fixed now ... the measurement of a successful Academy is the number of players who end up representing your senior squad, and currently Leeds have Mowatt, Lees, Byram, Poleon, White and Dawson on their books who have all played in the first team ... not bad at all considering, how many other "big" clubs can show such a return?
Yes, when you note the current good crop of young players it does bring a sense of future promise. Great to hear the Academy is on the up as well. Saw reference on this guys blog to John Charles grandson - very good prospect - he's at the 'udders though! Does look like is grandad!
Seaman sold by Allan Clarke to POSH for £1000 his former assistant bought him . Irwin freebie by Bremner to Oldham Cantona 1m to the ones we hate was worth at least £8m by Wilko
Not sure Eric got away, we got rid. We knew he was good, but it was an ethical decision to get rid, and manure had less ethics
What he gave them was priceless. Btw am I the only one who is now refusing to drink Kronenburg?. Never owned any sharp electronics, moved insurance companies when AIG bought them out and refused to consider a red car, and the only thing red I would wear would be a pair of grunts (for obvious reasons). Not that I would ever go to Turkey but I would rather walk than use Turkish airlines.
Back on topic, what happened to Garbutt at Everton. I used to his old man but think they must have moved away.
Glory thats brilliant mate I had a google about a bit a few weeks ago looking for young Luke. He is on the cusp of breaking through at Everton and is doing really well, including scoring goals for their development squad. They play a much higher standard than our boys as they have class 1 status along with the top prem clubs. Luke is tipped to go out on loan in January!!!
Can't support the anti Turkish stuff Glory sorry mate. I had 3 good years working there, and for the record, even Turks regard Cim Bom fans as nasty. That said, I don't discuss Footy if/when I ever go to Can'tstanddbullsh&t. Far too likely to kick off. On EC, the reason he was sold had nothing to do with footy, more to do with his alleged Ugandan relations with Chapman's missus. He's the only player to have won the top league title in every season that he has completed. The only time he didn't, he was banned for 8 months and therefore didn't complete that season.
Leaving aside the merits of Turkey, Turkish Airlines are the official flight partner of scumchester disunited. Back to Turkey, I never visit a country where the locals hate us. The radicalisation of the country will have serious consequences in the next ten years. You got out just in time.
One thing's for sure Glory, they won't get radicalised anytime soon. There are two groups in Turkey that ensure that will never happen - The furore over a woman daring to wear a headscarf in Parliament is evidence that Turkey won't be producing too many radicalised youngsters anytime soon. On THY, I can fully understand why you wouldn't want to use them. Unfortunately, the food, drinks and service on their short flights to and from London put them way ahead of anything else doing the same route. Sorry.
Even if the flight was free and the food and drink served off the naked flesh of nubile stewardesses I wouldn't use them.
