    I am surprised that such a sensitive soul as yourself should be expected to go to Portsm**th for such an important medical examination.

    Your blood pressure and pulse rate will be through the roof FFS.

    If you tell them why I am sure they can compensate for the Pompey factor.

    Talking of Breaking Bad, I retired last week after working for 38 years in a chemistry lab, and one of my leaving presents was... that's right, Season One of Breaking Bad on DVD.

    Are they trying to suggest a new career for me?

    I also got a book titled "1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die", a machine to make plectrums out of old credit cards etc., and £100 worth of Amazon vouchers. Didn't I do well?

    Blimey I'd say so. 38 years of being in a stable job was the biggest present of all. Doesn't happen these days.

    Amen to that. It was one of the attractions of working for the NHS in the 1970's, a job for life as opposed to high wages etc. Trouble is, after three years without a pay rise and pension contributions rising rapidly now was the time to go. The only thing I'll miss is my workmates.
