actually speaks some sense! http://tyneandwear.sky.com/sunderla...mbonda-poyet-must-be-given-time-at-sunderland Former Sunderland defender Pascal Chimbonda says his former coach Gus Poyet must be given time to turn around Sunderland's fortunes - but is unsure if Poyet can keep the club in the Premier League this season. Chimbonda, who joined Carlisle United last month, worked under Poyet when the Sunderland manager was Juande Ramos' first team coach at Tottenham Hotspur. Chimbonda played for Sunderland from July 2008 until January 2009, and thinks that Poyet will do a good job at the Stadium of Light, if he is given time. Pascal Chimbonda told Sky Sports News: "He (Poyet) likes to work hard, and you saw what he did at Brighton, he took them up to the Championship, and almost got them to the Premier League. "If you give him time, and patience, he will do a good job at Sunderland, and hopefully they will stay up." But Chimbonda admitted that he was unsure if Poyet has enough time to keep Sunderland clear of relegation this season, but said the club must stick with the Uruguayan even if the club goes down to the Championship. Chimbonda said: "This season it is hard, but if you win three games in a row in the Premier League you can climb up quickly. "If they start to win games between now and January they have a chance to stay up. "If not, and they do go down, I still think Gus Poyet will do a good job at Sunderland." Actually speaking some sense, think a lot of fans need to read this article personally Cant just expect success, got to get his team and his philosophies in place Its not instant, has to be done over a few years
I actually agree with everything he says. I also believe that even if we do go down, that we should persevere with Gus, let him build his own squad and do things his way.
I agree, if we go down its no fault of Poyet's and he should be given the chance to.bring us back like Mick McCarthy did.
I'm very very pleased to have him. If Ellis can ignore the boo boys if/when they call for his head, we'll be a good team to watch and a successful team soon enough. Even better if our fans could be patient but maybe that's asking too much!
