You mean to say that apart from Eric Cantona, Ian Harte, Harry Kewell, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, Nigel Martyn, Lee Bowyer, Alan Smith, Paul Robinson, Jonathan Woodgate, Mark Viduka, Rio Ferdinand, James Milner, Aaron Lennon and Jermaine Beckford, that Leeds United, under no circumstances will let thier best players go?
Quality post. I would imagine the Leeds fans will now all of a sudden forget about this article. Either that or they'll try and tell you they weren't great players when they sold them.
11 out of those 14 were sold during or around the fire sale, which basically means your argument is invalid. Snodgrass will not be playing for Norwich City next season.
To Master Bates - you can keep your Mr Snodgrass although I suspect that he would prefer to be with NCFC in the Prem than having another go at getting Leeds promoted next season. What would Snoddy bring to the table that Croft can't do already? Give the lads who got us to the Prem a chance - they all deserve it
Well I'd assume he can play on the wing better. Like has been previously mentioned, the reason Lambert is after Snodgrass is because he is fully aware he'll have to try some different tactics in the prem and that will involve playing wide players, which you don't really have many of. If you're going to have a proper crack at staying up, you have to try and get the best you can within the means. Unfortunately for you, Snodgrass is not within your means, as we have no desire to sell, so if you were to get him you'd have to persuade Leeds to reluctantly sell him, which would involve paying way more than he's actually worth. No need to get all bent out of shape about it though, you'll be coming straight back down anyway
Not us lad - Lambert if far too canny a Scot to let this happen. One of the Glasgow gang - Fegusson, Moyes, Coyle and Dalglish. Still, can't see you lot getting beyond 7th place in Championship next season.
Not a selling club, a wait until the contract runs out and lose them for free club?...... I could name 10 descent players that Leeds have sold in the last 5 years
Since we've been financially stable after administration, the only player we've been forced to sell was Delph, a transfer which amounted to about £8m in total. Let's see this list of yours anyway, should be fun.
Are you financially stable now? Maybe not 10 and maybe longer than 5 years but you have sold lots of good players.
We made a profit in 08-09 and only a small operating loss in 09-10 so yes we're currently stable. We obviously had to sell a lot of players in the firesales after relegations from both divisions but since Bates took us into admin, we've not been a selling club and we'll remain that way by the looks of things.
Ha ha ha ha , i ll take that as a YES..................The keeper could do with a few less meat pies... I hope Wenger isn t lurking in the background ..
Still using the fact we've sold a lot of our best players in the last 6-7 years as an argument for us being a selling club? Those were sold in the FIRE SALE. You know, when we were in masses of debt with no way of paying it off and had to sell a load of players on the cheap just to pay off as much as we could so we didn't get shut down? Leeds are not a selling club. You will not see Snodgrass in a Norwich City shirt next season.
11 of those went during the firesale, 1 went out of contract and with Cantona Ferguson phoned about another player and Wilko said "no, but you can have Cantona instead"! The only major first team player we've sold since Bates came in is Delph.
Think NSATP is forgetting the words 'under Bates' which was integral to the sentence 'Leeds are not a selling club under Bates'.
Snodgrass won't go to Norwich. He can go to Norwich, play on season in the Prem and go back down, or stay at Leeds and in 1/2 years get promoted and stay in the top flight. Norwich will come back down unless they sign some quality players. Seeing as Bradley Johnson is going to be your first signing, I can't see you staying up. Even though Norwich fans have been disagreeing with the Leeds fans who watch him every week, he is an average Championship player, who could improve to a good Championship player but will never be a good Prem player. That goal against Arsenal was a 1 in a 1000 shot.
