Yes being by Monsun he'll probably be interesting to the Australian breeders, only drawback is that he's got 2 crosses of Danzig blood on the distaff side as the Aussies are swamped with Danehill blood. Still 3 crosses of Danzig may not be the worst thing. I'm intrigued that his previous win was a Group 2 over 8f.
They were saying Good to Soft at the betting shop in the Hankow road.

Most people seem to think this Haldon Gold Cup is between Cue Card and William's Wishes.
In fact, it's a very tight handicap, and I believe Module, one of my 'five to follow,' has the form and scope to go very close at the weights.
Either way, I'll be following him this year.
Module (Nap) Best price 8/1 Betfair.

I must send a strongly-worded e-mail to my bookmaker - tight git only paid the first 3 on the Melbourne Cup and I backed Simenon e/w. Shameless behaviour on a 24 runner handicap, but probably my own fault for not reading the small print.

Posting here for the traffic, so excuse thread hijack:

Re next weeks Stud visits, I currently only have 10 acceptances but room for 29!

I am waiting for definite confirmations from:
Woolcombe
BroughTiger
Jambawamba
Ron

The following have yet to send me their email addresses so that I can send them details of times, costs, etc:
YouCanCallMeJeff
Heisenberg
Bluesky
WaywardLad

As we are low on numbers I am happy for people to bring friends/family members, though for obvious reasons children under 12 are sadly not allowed.

I need final numbers by no later than 10th November, but would appreciate them sooner as I still have not booked the transport!

Thanks

Morning, troops. Nice to see you to see you...NICE! And can I just say what a lovely daily thread today...so much better than last weeks!

There seems to have been much excitement, on here, about events ‘Down Under’ in the early hours but cor blimey when will some people ever learn?!? As my local bookie chappie always says ‘As long as types are prepared to back UK horse to win the Melbourne Cup I’ll always have bread on the table’.

Must be a quite day news wise in the old glorified pony racing world though as I see the headline in all the papers concerns a NH saddle monkey riding a double yesterday at Kempers Park. What a non-event that is...

Good luck to those putting on their betting boots today.

I had 2 e/w bets - on Simenon and Dandino

my bookmaker did pay out on the first 4 but unfortunately I had the bigger e/w bet on Dandino who finished 5th...so I am equally annoyed that there wasn't a pay out for the first 5.<grr>

I took it from RP that the going was good, but if it was GS then it might have helped the winner a bit? He still would have won it though, even on fast ground IMHO? Fiorente is still an entire, so he could do well at stud downunder, if stays out there, that is.

Yes, I had Dandino too, no 5th place from my bookie either! As Oddy said, tight gits!

Note to SBC: One could well say that Fiorente is a UK horse? Formerly trained by Sir Michael Stoute and has not been in Australia that long.

Hello lads.

I wasn't on the winner Swanny..backed Mount Athos to win and a small e/w on old Red Cadeaux who ran a cracker, they both did.

That bloody cheese sandwich gave me night terrors..knackered today..or maybe it was withdrawal symptoms after the wine lake I consumed at the weekend...I prefer to blame the old Red Leicester!

GL anyone having a go today...excellent card at Exeter and the decision in '96 to change THGC to a limited h'cap is again proved correct.

One again for for me today at Exeter 3.20 Claret Cloak took 11/8 this morning Dark Lover was unconvincing at Cheltenham LTO and I think Manyriverstocross will need further than this.

Best of luck all <cheers>

The best card by a long way today is at Exeter, I won't have a bet in the opener but will keep an eye on second favourite Champagne West who makes his hurdling debut for Philip Hobbs. But a few others have the advantage of experience over hurdles so will be interesting to see how he gets on. Cue Card versus William's Wishes in the big race of the day is a race to savour, Cue Card concedes 19lbs to William's Wishes but I reckon at level weights Cue Card would win.

As for my only tip yesterday (Adam Kirby treble for trainer David Evans), SP's for the winners were 9/2, 4/1 and 4/1 but most of my tips usually end up getting well beat so was good to have a £1 win treble yesterday.

Stick, the very best of luck with your filly tomorrow. I hope its a really special day for you.

It is noteworthy that ‘Touchy’ Fehily is on board your filly rather than the other stable representative???

I see though that you are being opposed by the Mr Waley-Cohen’s. Although why they are continuing to have horse with the Pipe’s is one of life’s great mysteries to me. All that I hope and pray is that when Sam next goes to Seven Barrows none of their ‘little ways’ have rubbed off on him and that they are brought into the honest and honourable surrounds of Mr Henderson’s barn. The Waley-Cohen horse, Makadamia, does look nicely bred as the dam won a Grade 2 and was Grade 1 placed for Mr Henderson whilst Makadamia is a half-sister to the very useful, Roulez Cool.

Should I be having a ‘reverse exacta’, old boy, on your good self and the Waley-Cohen’s???

16:20 Exeter - Fix It Right

(Possible favourite, and seems to have every chance for the in-form Lavelle yard).

GL all today! <ok>

One of the only races I liked the look of their swanny , the fav tolkiens could struggle with the distance fix it right should have the edge their . I personally though like the look of the no8 storm alert miss l gardner loves storm alert she has took the ride 4 times reading 2132 the one and last two being here at exeter over this distance under similar or worse conditions both times putting in relatively good times there has been the long lay off though but at 8s in places it is worthy of an ew gamble.
good luck though mate I had made my mind up last night and was rather hoping it would go out before betting.
