Give your head a shake Mike - you can clearly see Lukaku is trying to alter his path to get out of the keepers way but wasn't able to, couldn't hurdle him either as his head was too high. That one was just an unfortunate coming together at speed. The 2 incidents are completely different!
With McShane, this kind of challenge just doesn't happen often enough these days given how well protected keepers are ( usually ) so I guess the refs have no clear guidance on how to deal with them and apply 1970's rules. A player that far off winning the ball in a 50:50 anywhere else on the pitch would have walked.

Interesting to see, you live in Easington as in East Yorkshire, bottom of Spurn Point?

If so, bloody hell. Small World, I have family down there. I went to Easington Primary School myself for a couple of years before moving to Hull, and eventually Kirk Ella.

Anyway, nice to see a level-headed comment about the decisions from a Sunderland fan who was actually there rather than going off MOTD analysis.

More likely Easington, County Durham I would have thought, might be wrong. Easington has a huge sunderland following

All the scum refs are frigging biased I tell you against us, they will help relegate us like in 1990-91 season. the cheating diving players don't help either, most players now will fall and dive whenever the chance arises, there has been a few already including Fulham.
