Or, just maybe, it's a bit of reverse psychology! In, this is the best we can attract with you, the council, but, if we were able to do the sports village, we would have attracted a better sponsor??
Listening to MM on Humberside this morning and it was clear he was trying his hardest to put a pos spin on the sponsor of CC . But what was all that about this been our best sponsorship deal ever what happened to the totesport deal that was a 1 mill sponsor over two years this deal is only worth over a mill if we get back to the prem in two years.Anyone know
I think we have to be front-footed with this with opposition fans, how about we sing the following (same tune as we don't lose away) We'll rob your TV, We'll rob your TeeeeeVeeee, Then cash converters, Will pay for our weed
I'm going to run with this: We'll steal your hand bag, we'll steal your hand baa-ag, Then cash converters, will pay for our skag We'll have your satnav, we'll have you satnaa-av, Then cash converters, will pay for our smack We'll steal your new shoes, we'll steal your new sho-es, Then cash converters, will pay for our booze
ever heard the expression "any publicity is good publicity", we'll we're all talking CC and not Bullard for once, it puts their name in people's mind if they need a few quid then that's where they'll head..
No one is saying that it's going to cause bad publicity for Cash Converters, it's the club's reputation that's damaged.
The club are right in their comment that you can pick fault with many other club sponsors, some of which could be classed as similar in style to Cash Converters - what makes this worse is the fact Cash Converters as a brand are a lot more tacky than say, wonga.com The name alone sounds very 'Del Boy' and then when you think of their shops, you don't think of them as likely to have a shop in St.Stephen's or along the Quayside, you think Prospect Centre, Holderness Rd etc... It's like if we were sponsored by Heinz beans - that'd be fine, but if we were sponsored by 'big bob's value beans' there would be as much negative reaction as there has been to the Cash Converters deal.
I'd rather have cash convertors than Hudgel or Rapid Solicitors. If people have a low opinion of Hull, **** 'em. I'd rather that sort stayed away and remained in ignorance anyway. So them thinking someone giving us millions is something to laugh at is hardly a problem to me either.
If the money that Cash Converters brings in is used for team building (bringing in Danns etc) then I will forgive the club for having them as shirt sponsors. Still won't buy one though.
I just don't buy this line that we were lucky to get the deal that they've offered us. The money they offered us in the PL is not that far from what Totesport did, and by all accounts the Championship deal was around £300k with both sponsors. This just seems to be a massive own goal when it comes to projecting an image of the city.
On a serious note, I think the comparison with Ebay is very misguided, just hoping they dont splash the logo on the back of any of the gear, fair enough on the front when people can see it's a football top or whatever.
I took a Panasonic Camera into Cash Convertors in town yesterday to see how much they would give me for it, bearing in mind it cost me £250 last year, they offered me £40.00 for it, a quick search on the online auction sites and it was selling fro around the £130 - £160 range. Cash Convertors is nothing like EBay, they offer you **** money so they can sell it on for a mega profit. I asked the kid behind the counter what his thoughts were about the sponsorship deal with City, do you know what his answer was, " I dont care mate, i support Man Utd" . Your Honour i rest my case
