So did I, and I fully expected an Arsenal goal, Liverpool goal or whoever with glamour, to win it.

By the same token, our goal against Boro a couple of years ago out does it, or this one would be the best goal ever scored:

It was a joke about the fact that every time our defensive record is mentioned, it necessitates a mention of Roma. If we were first, that would not be necessary. If we were third, commentators would simply state that we have the third-best defensive record in Europe, sans Roma-comparison.

Don't know if you know it but the Roma v Chievo midweek match was streamed and Saints were mentioned twice by the commentators..! And favourably too, so there is merit in exposure. :)

Indeed. The premise of the joke was feigned annoyance over the idea that our defense has to be compared to Roma at every turn. I'm am not in fact in any way annoyed with having the second-best defense in Europe.

Well forums are a poor medium for implying humour, unless you write in the third person [as in, he joked] or using a :)
