I looked at William Hill website for Premier League relegation and there seems to be more confidence we will stay up http://sports.williamhill.com/bet/en-gb/betting/e/4504776/English-Premier-League---Relegation.html Crystal Palace 1/20 Sunderland 1/2 Cardiff 9/4 Norwich 9/4 Fulham 11/4 Hull City 3/1 Stoke 7/2 West Ham 12/1
Think we look a better bet than Stoke, but 2nd half of season could see squads tested to the full, Jan transfer window will be interesting if we can keep in mid table, may attract better quality of player
Those odds seems fair enough to me. If we repeat the form of our last first season then a relegation battle will happen. The difference this time is the manager. Hopefully Bruce will remain a bit more level headed than Brown. What injuries we have will be crucial too. The main thing for me yesterday was not just the 3 points, but the fact that we could have been looking at 2 players out for the season. Given the appalling nature of both sending off tackles we were lucky. Question is will that luck remain?
If you assume that Sunderland and Crystal Palace will be in the bottom 2 places that leaves one place between Norwich, Fulham, Stoke, West Ham, Newcastle, Cardiff, Hull, Aston Villa and Norwich. I think some of those teams are more likely to go down than others and I think the third spot will be taken by Fulham. I don't mind as long as it isn't Norwich. I would expect Hull to finish around 15th to 13th, although close to the bottom 3 in terms of points, but the bottom half of the table will be close.
Many of those who gushed in 2008 are the ones rewriting history now with Brown as the **** of all ****s. It's going very well for us right know despite the lack of goals and the worrying second half performance, so Bruce is the toast of Hull. Fast forward a bit and injuries, loss of form etc kick in, and the usual wobbling suspects will be rubbishing Bruce.
Must be hell being a football manager! Browny was brilliant for us, and I'm not intentionally knocking him, just pointing out that he could get a bit ahead of himself and believe the hype. If you remember this time 5 years ago he was seriously been talked about as the next England manager! Bruce may well fail and we sack him. But currently most would agree he is doing a great job. Fickle game football. Good job it pays well.
That generally seem to be a problem for many "smaller" teams who reach the dizzy heights of Europe - Wigan, Birmingham and now Swansea? Whilst it would be good to see at the KC, personally I hope we don't achieve that for a good few years yet, allowing us ample time to strengthen and form a solid Premier League squad.
Anyone recall pre-season almost everyone on this very board saying Norwich wouldnt be in the mix and they would never struggle for goals now? I say almost everyone cos I pointed out I fully expected them to do an Ipswich and massively struggle after ditching the very players that did well for them for fancier, flashier types? Oh how I was mocked and yes Im feeling smug as it goes. I think it was only Brown doing that.... I remember clearly being in the City press conference post the Sunderland manager sacking (was it Keane?) and Brown saying how it was a great job for anyone and he was inevitabley linked but he had a job to do at Hull. As he left the presser all the media collectively said they had never for one minute ever thought aabout him for the job nor had he been linked with it by anyone other than himself. I honestly think Brown desperately wanted that job and something changed after he didnt get it.
Yes, Phil Brown must have done something right. The way some people slag him off you'd think City got promotion in 2008 in spite of his efforts rather than in large part because of them. If Huddlestone gets injured all bets are off.
Davies has been far more integral and would be a much bigger loss, he just doesnt get the media plaudits as he's less nationally renowned.
We need to strengthen the forward line in January + not allow our squad to be weakened by the transfer window. A couple of fresh faces could keep our momentum going + keep us out of the relegation battle
In your opinion. Yes Davies has been great but the other centre halves have done very well too showing we can cope with injuries in that area.
Well of course it is. Why do people feel the need to say that? Im not going to write someone else's opinion am I? So every time I speak in any conversation or post something on the internet I'm supposed to say 'in my opinion'? Well whose ****ing opinion do you think it is?
Makes you laugh doesn't it BCC , it's a football message board where fans can post their opinions , In my opinion . I agree with you about Davies
We're 7/1 to secure a top half finish this season (through Skybet). Everybody at the club believes we can do it. Meh, I'll have a tenner on.
