Just a thought. I know we've all long felt that Obertan was a confidence player and needed boatloads of it to be playing well.

However, after subbed on against Chelsea, it seemed like all he could do was no right.

I don't even remember him doing anything right at all............It was absolutely horrendous to watch.

He played a one two with Anita, then another one two with Anita
before Anita whipped the ball in for Remmy to score

apart from that he had a free run at Luiz but decided to go to the corner rather than take him on
and drive towards goal (no confidence at all)

I seem to remember him going on a powering run forward....however he forgot to take the ball with him !

I'm not being funny though but when he was on the touchline waiting to come on, I could help thinking ****ing hell he's beefed up a bit...top half looked ripped to **** !

Stepping over the ball basically summed up his entire playing career.

he was involved in the one two with Anita. Other than that, he verged on the comic

Even in the one two, it was fortuitous that Anita dug him out of a hole he created out of nothing. Had two chances to run the ball away up field after the goal, maybe add a third in somewhere, and ballsed both up so badly it was hilarious. For me, he's main one who has to be moved on. He's utterly dispensable, he's not even the best player in his position, Sammy Ameobi should be coming on, not this clown. If the club's content losing the likes of Simpson and Perch, it borders on miraculous that Obertan's still there.

Couple of good moments - build up play for the goal.

Couple of bad moments - especially leaving the ball behind when we had the chance for a very dangerous break.

    That said, Cisse was worse.

Bloke is horribly short on confidence. When on his day, he wins us games singlehandedly with his goals. The big problem about Cisse is that when he doesn't score, he doesn't provide anything else.

I could understand bringing him on in an easier match, or starting him in the cup, in an attempt to get him to relax. But you're 1-0 up against one of the best in Europe with half an hour to play....NO ALAN NO!!!! I watched on part where Sissoko tried to play it to him near the corner flag. Simple ball, all he had to do was touch it to control it, literally a two year old could have took the pass....Cisse just missed the ball, out it went for a Chelsea goal kick, posession needlessly squandered. Pardew looked away and shook his head. I reckon we may not see Cisse in a more stressful situation for a while now - Pardew looked genuinely like he'd had enough.

Harsh on Obertan, he was on for all of maybe 10 minutes and had a hand in our second goal. Other than that he tracked back and that's about it because he was on for such a short period of time. Yes he did give the ball away a couple of times but the rest of the players were blowing out of their arses having put in so much effort meaning he didn't always have a viable option to pass to.

I think this is just about getting on his back for the sake of it. He's a winger, he came on and had a hand in our goal. Job done for him. A rating of 1/10 is ridiculous. He did nothing that cost a goal or sending off etc and was involved in the second goal. I don't rate him but when the fans are going to get on his back after a 10 min cameo it's no wonder he's short on confidence.

As long as everyone notices how Cisse is a load of ****ing ****e. Then I don't really mind what people think of Obertan, who will always be a sub anyway, really having Obertan on the field was not going to cost us the game, and he messed up a few runs. He had good play with Anita to set up a goal though.

In my opinion though, we must sell on Cisse and use the money to keep Remy. Honestly that lad is barely even a footballer now.

Didn't realise he was a member of this forum.

To a man, every fan roared him on the two or three times he had the chance to open his legs. No-one booed him on the day. We're commenting after the fact, away from the harm of the pitch, on a message board about how awful he looked. Something he does with alarming regularity.

Conspiracy theorists claim Pardew turned to Obertan to fck it all up because Cisse didn't do quite enough to let Chelsea score.

    He could be <whistle>

But my point still stands, maybe not in this game but in plenty of other matches the fans are on his back after the first mistake he makes. Yet Ben Arfa can give the ball away 4/5 times in a row and the fans still want the rest of the team to give him the ball at every available opportunity.

Am I saying Obertan is a good player? Or course not. Just that he deserves the same amount of patience and support that is afforded to all of our other players. He got this on Saturday but normally he doesn't.

I think we should offer QPR Cisse in a straight swap. Technically there's £4m difference, so might be enough to overlook the gulf in class...

Not sure about that. Ben Arfa will give the ball away trying to beat a man or four. It's widely acknowledged that Ben Arfa hsa the ability to beat teams on his own, he just does it once every 5 or 6 games. Not that I'm condoning it - but the fans live in hope that maybe "this time" it'll find the top corner. Obertan just miscontrols it, takes a heavy touch and often doesn't really hurt the opposition, generally screwing up on the byline. He doesn't beat a man and rarely uses his pace, which just frustrates everyone.

I think Obertan was afforded a lot of patience - do you remember how long he's been at this football club?!
