It's difficult to be fair. There arent that many good managers available which roll off the tongue. Gary Megson? That ugly thing that just left Middlesbrough?
love steak, but It was a serious question, you all seem resigned to ml leaving so if the right man came along why wait?
I can name many managers from all over Europe that we can afford, and would suit our style, and who would love to come here, but for me there is one man that i would love us to have, and that is Gianfranco Zola! That's after Laudrup goes of course.......................
why is it so astonishing ???...nobody can deny that laudrup has had enough chances after his excuses in the press week after week that we will improve, We are nowhere as good as we were before he took over and are going backwards rather than forwards. He is clueless and i cant wait until he finally leaves and we get someone who will reverse his abysmal type of football and get us back to what we do best...
I wouldn't go nearly as far as Dai (who would?) but Laudrup must take the responsibility for our dip in form. Why? Because it's not down to individual errors which he can't legislate for, it's down to a lack of urgency and intensity in our game. Sorry guys but that's the manager's area whether you like it or not!
why keep a manager who is not as good as past managers, I honestly believe and always have that fans are putting him high up on a pedestal a a good manager because of who he is and not by his actual management skills, He was the elite player who not that many players could match but his management skills are third division at best and have always been mediocre where ever he has been. I have never rated him as a manager that will take us to the next level and think he has actually dropped us down a level..There is nothing there but excuses week after week after week, Even Michu's form is dropping at an alarming rate from what it was. I can see the fans increasing after every game disgruntled by the lack of passion and commitment to win,,,,this is all down to the manager as he is so overrated by who he is and not by his management skills that it is ruining everything past managers have built up and i for one cant wait for him to leave so huw can get us back on track with a manager who fits in with the clubs philosophy of how to play before laudrup ruined it...
"why keep a manager who is not as good as past managers" We finished higher last season and won a cup so I can stop you right there.
Laudrup isn't perfect, he makes mistakes like everyone else. He's still learning about life in the Premier League which is vastly different to where he spent the majority of his career. One thing he's still discovering is the physicality of this league and I'm wondering if he isn't thinking of revising his squad number to cope. I always believed that we needed 25 players and I see no reason to change my mind. I think he's also realising that our players aren't quite as good as they've been hyped up to be, that they can't give him what he wants. I agree that the tempo and intensity of our game is down to him but, again, we have to ask if the players are good enough to deliver it. Let's not forget that we have never been a quick team. Look at the many posts back in the Rodgers' regime that complained about the slowness of our build up including endless possession at the back. For me, our most fluent attacking football was played under Martinez when we were quite superb going forward. Balance that, though, with the fact that we were playing at a lower level and couldn't defend to save our lives. As we have found out, the Premier League is a totally different proposition. That said, I wouldn't change Laudrup warts and all. I think he is good enough to get us back on track... if he stays.
If we keep laudrup then don't expect to stay in the premiership thats all i say. He is not a premiership manager for a small team like us and he is proving it. He may do well at a big club but i doubt it and the sooner he leaves the sooner someone can come in that knows what our club is all about the better. I can see if we carry on playing his brand of negative football till the end of the season that we could be in trouble and its lucky that palace and sunderland are worst than us that the odds are in our favour of staying up but you can bet that our best high profile players will want to move on and not stay where the chances of remaining in the premiership are getting less and less..
I think the pressure is coming on our players from the front line, and that's the issue that Laudrup and the club need to address, Bony was a high profile signing, who has not delivered yet, and that is at the heart of the issue of our lack of cutting edge, we really need to work on the supply of good ball to Bony, and he needs to be sharper looking for the channels and receiving the ball. Poz is the positive for our front line, but is being used sparingly at the minute, but that will change with Michu out, though it looks as if we have got another Shecter in Alvaro, no wonder he couldn't break into first team football, Oh what I would give to have Borini, or Emnes in our front line options!...............
