Never got into F1. Know nothing about cars - don't know how you could spend a few hours watching cars or "broom brooms" as I used to call them going round and round.

Or why watch F1 when the result is pretty much a certainty before each and every race?

That's a little bit like asking a Stoke fan why they watch their team. You know it'll likely be a mind-numbing hoof-fest, but you do it because you love it, and you remember that sometimes it can be absolutely thrilling.

Also the WRC is brilliant , just gets so little coverage . As with F1 , the " Magic " eras for me were the early to mid 1980's & 90's .

Wonder why I bother sometimes. Ended up refereeing a game I was expecting to line on for a friend, and it all ended with me being congratulated for being a cheat because I gave the ball as having crossed the line against a team who were at the time 0-1 up away from home with five minutes to go.

Ugh.

The magic eras have been where it wasn't cars that made the World Champion. There haven't been many of those. Usually, a car comes out of the design and development mould and dominates the season, or most of it. Sometimes that happens for the same designer for years in turn. For me, the real downturn came where races started to be won in the pits and nowhere else. Watching the procession effectively parade round for 70 odd laps was so mind numbingly boring that I wasn't prepared to forgive the sport for sucking me in for donkey's years when I finally realised I was being fooled. It was the end as far as I was concerned.

I remember the day I finally threw in the towel. It was one of those weekends where F1 and MotoGP clashed on the same day. The F1 race was first and then I had to switch channels for MotoGP shortly after. The F1 race was yet another bore fest and I nodded off once again, only this time I missed the MotoGP race, which I have seen recordings of in later years and was an absolute stonking blinder. Never again.

For anyone hoping we may claw the defensive record from Roma's hands...

Torino 0-1 Roma. Strootman just scored. 30 mins gone, Roma well on top. On course for 33 pts out of 33.

honestly, why does anyone really care about this stat?

Because it's annoying hearing "they have the best defensive record in Europe...after Roma" three times a match. We either need to be first in that stat, or we need to be third.
