As I understand it, this site is just the other side of the A40 isn't it? Not exactly a long way away from where we are now is it?
Correct. And the plan actually states that they could use a sports stadium to justify and help fund the investment in infrastructure. The ground would be one of the first developments. The existing rail connections are already pretty good even without HS2.
If true, Old Oak Common would be a terrific site. One of the few areas available near Loftus Road and it has major plans for the future. Great news.
I'm sure there is no way TF would be looking at that if it was on the end of a 30 year project. I guess the stadium would be one of the first parts of the overall redevelopment and I would expect a five year project to get it finished in time for the opening of Crossrail in 2018, if not sooner...
For me this can't come soon enough. LR is way past it's sell-by date, and, as someone born and brought up in Harlesden, NW10 doesn't hold any terrors for me. The new ground will be amidst a wider development with great transport links and, presumably, many bars ans restaurants to meet in. Bring it on.
I would love to know where this rumour has come from. I was in the C&S yesterday and spoke to TF twice. At one stage I said to him, you must get sick posing for all these photos and he laughed and said yeah. At no stage did I hear anybody speak to him about the new ground. He was surrounded by geezers looking to get their photos taken with him to post on facebook and say, "did ya see me new rich mate". I would say the purpose of the visit was purely for PR reasons. I am sure TF is professional enough not to discuss something so important in public, even with his customers which is what we all are. So, the question to the OP is, where did you hear this rumour???

Why is everyone being so negative? The only other sites were the BBC or the dairy. The BBC site is hugely expensive while they want £100m for the dairy site. This is within walking distance, has a tube and train station by it as well as the a40 which is great for everyone coming from outside London.. Are the ones complaining living right next to the ground now?
There have been plenty of sites in w12 over the last 30 years, all opportunities missed. There are no other options, it's either stay at LR or Park Royal and all points west. Not ideal but I'd be happy.
