Don't agree. I thought he was trying hard, but was getting very little service and on occasion he was having to go out wide to try and get the ball. The midfield was spluttering and it was crying out for someone like McGugan to take it by the scruff of the neck and run the show.

Zola's right, some players are under performing.

Absolutely. Deeney did not play well (nobody did) but the problem was he is playing right up front ahead of FF and he needs service from Mcgugan, FF, Mceachran, Murray, Anya, Pudil - anyone really - and he wasn't getting it.

I have been saying for some time that we don't have a line leader on our books if Deeney is off form/injured/suspended. I really think we should be looking for a similar type of player rather than more midfielders. FF is a great little player, but I don't see him as a prolific goal scorer or line leader.

Looking at the two teams it seemed from here that we have a team of lightweight players compared to Leicester. GT when he was manager all those years ago went for players with physical presence. While I think small skillful players might be fine in Italy, the Championship has a robust method of playing, sometimes using force more than skill. While we take on players coming back from injury or looking for playing time, I am not sure we always get the type of player suited to this league.

In light of some of the comments above, Deeney only had 19 touches of the ball and McEachran received MOM.

make of that what you will.

Very disappointing all round and a game where MOM should not have been awarded. Thinking back to the Derby game (and hindsight is a wonderful thing) we could do with a Eustace at the moment. Almunia is an experienced footballer but can't lift the side from the position he plays in. Leicester had a better attitude throughout the side whereas, once the daft goal had gone in, too many Watford heads went down. For me, Deeney had a poor game, not the first he's had, and it's true he received poor service BUT when it was going well for him he chased everything and didn't spend so much time complaining. Angella is an excellent one on one defender but whatever trio we play, they seem incapable of working in unison. Six conceded in the last two home games and it could have been more...at least three free headers from quite close range offered today. McEachran came in for a lot of stick for sideways and backward passing and he looks like someone who isn't sure exactly what his role is..as if he's been told he mustn't push forward. It's been said many times the passing game (think Hungary or Spurs 1961) doesn't work unless players without the ball make themselves available to receive a pass. Fabbrini has his faults but he does try to run into space. When the passing doesn't work we are no longer any good at trying a different way whereas sides like Leicester look as though they can play long balls and hold the ball up if the occasion requires it. If there are to be additions to the squad perhaps there need to be one or two strong characters with a bit more physical presence. Sacrilege I know...but it is the Championship.

A woeful and dismal display yesterday and we got all we deserved. As I said after the Derby game we have no player like Eustace to boss the midfield and lead the team, we have no real leader to drive the players on. Deeney is not playing well and looks unfit and carry a bit too much weight, yes the service to him is not good, but his movement and pace is just not good enough. If I compare Leicester and Watford yesterday the big difference was width. Leicester continuously created width and pulled our defence all over the pitch, yet we did not do that enough and when we did we did start to look more dangerous.
Man of the Match is chosen by the match sponsor in the 1881 lounge, I would have struggled to pick 1 player, but if I had to it would have been Murray. We need Abdi back very soon and Deeney needs to be put on the bench.

    That was rather depressing.

We started badly and only really got going at 2 down because we decided to move the ball quicker.

Have to say Leicester restricted Anya well with their 2 pacey guys - an example of maybe where one manager has a tactical advantage over Zola?

What happened with the first goal and even the usually reliable Doyley was caught out whilst Casseti was always going to lose a foot race against Dyer!

Not sure anyone can any credit from the game and I hate to say it but a few looked very lacklustre even in effort.

Leicester clearly were motivated and are a decent side anyone who don't need gifts handed to them or so much space.

Totally agree Yellowvoice, I was saying the same before the match. We need someone with a bit of battle, I like Iriney in that role but prone to collect yellow cards, so start with him and if he picks up a yellow bring off towards the end of the game.

<laugh> Nothing but a distant memory fella, still in the same league, 10 points ahead of yourselves, and now the "previous meeting" reads Watford 0 Leicester 3 <ok>

Seriously though, thanks for booing Knocky throughout, I felt it really helped his performance, and the confidence he gained culminated in our 2nd goal :)
