I am not a fan of Cattermole but he has won me over slightly in the last few games. It was not a definite red, it was borderline, I can see why the ref gave it but at the same time we have seen much worse being given yellows and much less given reds. Elmos reaction did Catts no favors. The Dossena one is strange, I can sort of see what he was trying it do but instead of pulling out of the tackle he just carried on. Its a red card no questions but if you look at it at speed I don't actually think he meant to do what he did and it looks much worse than it actually was, ie it should have been a broken leg. Refs seem to be very inconsistent at the moment, I think as Sunderland fans were upset because last week there were 2 worse challenges on our players and no cards

Still early days yet..lets see how the rest of the season pans out, after seeing you lot struggle against 9 men and as you say.. certs for the drop..I wouldn't be counting my chickens just yet...Every season one club goes into freefall just after xmas...Bruce has form with this..I watch with interest
I don't think you can say Elmo's reaction lead to a sending off. It's not something i want to see, but unfortunately it's common place now. I think Cattermole's reputation might have had something to do with it. I agree about refs being inconsistant though.
Very true. At half time, we were still saying it was not beyond us to throw the game away even with things as they stood. Soon after the initial kick off, it was clear Poyet had set up for a draw, but I half expected a death or glory charge from you in the second half, rather than a 9 man, damage limitation defence.

Sadly you're right .......... he's thrown away his career and will always be thought of as an idiot by all supporters including our own. Shame, he could've played for England imo, much worse players have found their way in.
