The official Off-Topic Chat Thread now known as "Beefy's Corner".

Firstly, the normal rules of the site apply. You cannot start a discussion about contentious issues, Politics, Religion, or show Porn, etc... The flip side of this arrangement is that there will be a much stricter enforcement of the "no going off topic" rule which has always been the case anyway, on the other threads.

Secondly, the normal rules of the Saints board will apply, (except that you can go off-topic obviously). This is not going to become a "private GC Lite." Personal insults will not be tolerated, and neither will goading someone to draw them out. The whole tone of this board has suffered in the past as differing views have been aired and there have been far too many angry exchanges. Vitriolic exchanges are not welcome and will be dealt with as appropriate. If you have fallen out with a poster put him on your ignore list and don't rise to the bait!
If you see content which is not appropriate, please send the mods a PM rather than fronting up the poster and let us deal with it to save a bun-fight. Lastly, if a thread is closed or deleted by one of the Mods, and you have some good reason that it should reopen, then send us a PM with your reasons. Simply re-posting the same thread again to be confrontational would be considered very provocative and would probably lead to action being taken.

It would seem that large numbers of posts and subjects causes problems for mobile phone users to access this site. So from time to time it will be necessary to close the threads down and start a new one. Approximately every 1000 posts or so.

But I hold my early lead. :)

No flu or cold this time round, and I ought to do more guitar practice, so I doubt I'll be posting anywhere near so regularly.

Got no chance on here, especially now you have moved cricket. Perhaps I should start playing computer games or watch GOT...or perhaps not.

Visiting this thread is like visiting another planet. It is all alien to me.

With regard to DTLWs earlier post, of course there's an overreaction because historically Barry has been a wally, but I though that if anything the posters on SaintsWeb just looked silly and his point not absolutely unfair, rather than him being slaughtered. It was all rather petty.

Mind you there is a part of me wondering what/if Rabbit will say about JWP/Wanyama performances yesterday.

Okay, I'm not sure how to take screenshots on my phone, so here are the stats of the two players:

    James Tavernier (DRC)

    Crossing: 11
    Dribbling: 10
    Heading: 12
    Passing: 11
    Shooting: 9
    Tackling: 13
    Tecnique: 10
    Aggression: 15
    Creativity: 8
    Decisions: 13
    Leadership: 8
    Movement: 10
    Positioning: 13
    Teamwork: 12
    Pace: 14
    Stamina: 16
    Strength: 9

Value: 1.5m (but Newcastle are willing to sell for 500k)

    Brandon Horner (DRC)

    Crossing: 5
    Dribbling: 4
    Heading: 10
    Passing: 11
    Shooting: 5
    Tackling: 13
    Technique: 2
    Aggression: 14
    Creativity: 4
    Decisions: 11
    Leadership: 2
    Movement: 3
    Positioning: 14
    Teamwork: 7
    Pace: 13
    Stamina: 10
    Strength: 6

    Value 2k

Obviously Tavanier has better overall stats, but there isn't much difference in tackling, and if I'm spending 500k, surely I'd want some improvement in tackling? Or are the other stats better to such an extent that it makes him a much better player despite having the same tackling?

Probably discussed already somewhere else but Berahino is rumoured to be given an England call up for the next lot of friendlies.

[h=1]Man Utd: Sven-Goran Eriksson almost replaced Sir Alex Ferguson[/h]
Sven-Goran Eriksson says he signed a contract in 2002 to take over from Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United.
Ferguson retired this summer after 26 years in charge at Old Trafford but had announced his intention to stand down in 2002 before reversing the decision.
"A contract was signed - I was United's new manager," said then England boss Eriksson in a new autobiography.

Horner is quite good for League 2 so I wouldn't spend so much money replacing him. Tavernier is clearly better though. You're seriously over rating how important tackling is.

Webber has a bad start allowing Hans the Robot into the lead. What a surprise.

Thanks, perhaps I am. My defense was pretty terrible last season in the Conference so I need to improve it, but I'll look for cheaper options first. If I can't find anyone, I'll go for him, that'll still give me 500k to play with, although tbf, I've spent about 160k of that.

I was just reading about that myself. Then, I almost, but not quite, clicked on a stream. But then the years of yawns reminded me of some interesting paint that could stand a good viewing.

Why watch the F1 when there is a very good PL match on at the moment?

    I bet..! ;)

I should apologise to F1 fans here. I have lapsed into the old cynicism. I'm sure you are enjoying your race.

Or why watch F1 when the result is pretty much a certainty before each and every race?
