He's not a striker but I've thought from seeing him last year, Knockhaert will become a top player. Always thought Wood was well overrated and Nugent is a good second tier striker.
Me too, sadly. He's great but he's so ****ing injury prone it does make me wonder; is he worth a big contract?
Source some decent larkers from Belgium/Sweden. Cheap and at ease in our football with no cultural issues.
No doubt and is the way to go for many. I’m loathe to predict, but I think there’s a genuine chance of us being on 25+ points come January – maybe, just maybe that might provide Bruce the leeway to properly improve the squad.
I'd offer him a deal with a basic wage of around what he's on now, then another £10k or whatever for every week he plays.
Sound advice but would he accept such a contract? Remember 20-30k p/w is **** all to some clubs who are below us in the table.
If you were to mix Wood and Nugent you'd have a 15 a season PL striker IMO. Nugent's movement, first touch and workrate is PL class. But his finishing is woeful. Wood's finishing is PL class but his workrate, first touch and movement is woeful. Both are very good Championship players but they'd struggle in the PL IMO. The good thing is that Wood is only 21. He's got plenty of time to figure his game out.
Who knows mate, but I'm not sure I'd be willing to risk such a hefty chunk of our wage budget on a player that may be sidelined for 3/4 of the season.
Would rather voler your French garcon then do some sort of Weird Science with Wood/Nugent. You think Knockhaert will be available if you fail to go up?
As it happens, the Foolham game on Sat 28th is last game of first half of the season. We've now got:- -Saints (A) -Palace (H) -LFC (H) -AFC (A) -Swansea (A) -Sjoke (H) -WBA(A) -MUFC(H) -Foolham(H) Nine games- three of which stand out as winnable- CPFC, Sjoke and Fulham. These are also 'six pointers'. That would get us to 23 points at halfway. Only 4 wins or 12 points needed in second half of the season!!!
Indeed. I deffo think we can get circa three extra points (prob from draws) on top of the six pointers identified.
The biggest compliment I can give him is that he reminds me of Ryan Williams playing for Chesterfield against us.
We need to concentrate on beating the bottom feeders and put the exercise book down the seat of our pants for when we play the top teams. Playing weakened teams against Sperz worked out yesterday.......
Pretty much, but must possibly the wrong word (no idea what the right one is though). It's reckoned teams need 10 wins to stay up. We're a quarter into the season with 4 wins so far and have played some of the harder teams, so it gives a bit of leeway. But, as I'm sure you know, there's no gimmes in this league.
Id say there was points to be had against Saints, Swansea and Liverpool if we play well enough so i wouldn't necessarily say Palace is a must win.
