I think today proved to all of us why cleverley should be first choice. He was absolutely incredible in the first half and was the best player on the pitch. I thought we struggled when he had to come off due to injury. Personaly, i think he is our iniesta. He is our tika-taka player and should be first choice for us every game. He is the type of player that we should build the team around. What does everyone else on this board think? please discuss.

He had a good game today and is under rated by most. He tends make himself the man available at all times and moves the ball on with speed and usually quite well, comparing him to Iniesta may be a tad overplaying his ability and we would never build a team around him at the moment.

He is a good squad player who can do a job for United when required. He is no Iniesta. <ok>

If you build a team around Cleverley when you have Rooney, Van Persie and other considerably more talented players then you're not doing it right.

Cleverly is very limited in his abilities, so like yesterday, should play to his strengths. But it would do a great deal to his United and England career if he worked on his physical as well as his technical side of his game.

He's a squad player. All our midfielders are except Carrick.

On a good day Tom can be an asset, on a bad day he's the worst player on the pitch.

He's handy when you're attacking but at other times, very frustrating to watch. So no need to get carried away. I still expect Fellaini to step up and fill that void in midfield.

Would he get into the midfield of Arsenal, City, Spurs, Chelsea, or Liverpool??

NO. He'll have a decent enough career - but not with Utd. As soon as you sign your playmaker he'll rot on the bench until he goes, you surely know this?

He's good at times, but overall he's pretty average.

    Squad player at best.

I think he'd have done ok at a club like Spurs, he'd play plenty of times for Liverpool. I mean you have Henderson after all and Gerrard is a similar sort of player now in terms of hes either good or ****ing awful.

He'd be loaned out from Chelsea and City. Chelsea dont have a particularly good CM imo but its better than Cleverlys level.

I would approach Everton and offer him in exchange for Kevin Mirallas.

I've watched Cleverly play a few times, but can't even work out his role in midfield. Is he more offensive? or defensive?

    He just seems static.

Yeah he might have got a little run out for us (the odd 10 minutes here and there) perhaps when Coutinho was injured, but there's no way on earth he'd play in a midfield that usually dominates games (bar yesterday) - and that's been consistent since January, so don't throw the 'you've played all the easy game' rubbish at me <ok>

You've played only easy games until yesterday in all fairness and last season from january........ no pressure games. Your season had ended and the shackles of expectation were off.

Expectation is never off, even if the season is effectively over.

Agree if you don't want to win any more PL titles or challenge for the champions league. He is very average. Wouldn't get anywhere near the Arsenal, Man City or Chelsea midfield <doh>
