    Just back.

finally Redknapp played the performance I wanted and the team I wanted (with the personnel available)
A 4231 and no Henry and no Oneill on the wing.

A decent performance with a lot of chances created. Our 1st would not have been scored with a 451 formation and this is also the 1st game under Redknapp where we got crosses in which resulted in 2 goals, the wingers hardly ever cut inside and lost the ball.

Their goal looked like a blatant foul but then I was 100 yards away in A block. We got a good second goal but then the Faurlin injury stopped us dead because Henry came on and then proceeded to play as a 3rd CB, this caused Barton to be dragged back and then Derby took over possession. Henry single handedly screwed up our formation and tactics and obviously totally nullifies us going forward because we never have the ball with him in the team.

We improved, Redknapp improved but just keep Henry away from the pitch.

I also thought Chevy should have come on for the last 10-15 but thats nitpicking.

Very good in the 1st half playing off Austin but then faded in the 2nd. We finally got people in the box and he gets a tap in.

He had a good game Col - played quite high up the pitch. Our passing was much more direct today, no sideways stuff.

Good performance and should have won by more. Looked a clear foul in the area before Derbys goal. Very encouraging performance by Matt Phillips. Barton was excellent as was Faurlin until his unfortunate injury which did look a bad one and took some gloss off the victory. Let's hope it's not as bad as it looked.

This is nonsense, and purely reflect Flyer's Henry bias. The guy did fine, he passes forward which is a lovely change from the side's tendencies in previous performances. Other than the odd spell of possession which you'd expect from any team, Derby did nothing and didn't deserve their goal. It was the worst refereeing performance I've seen all season, it's like he had a random decision generator.

Other than the Henry point, i'd agree with everything else you've written Flyer

Ps. I'd have given Faurlin MOTM before his injury. He made some crucial tackles, and stopped various passages of derby possession- stifling their momentum.

Our more positive passing was evident from the start. I'm sure you didn't meant to, but you make it sound like it was down to Henry.

Absolutely agree re the ref - terrible.

BAE was the by far the best player on the pitch
    Barton was good

Sorry lads take off your paper 3 point glasses ... We are comfortable on the ball BUT we relaxed after our goal and Derby ate our midfield at one spell in the second half

It was his positioning which was abysmal and totally messed us up, his passing and tackling were fine but he should not be ending up between Hill and Dunne, did you see Barton or Faurlin there?

You cannot play as a 3rd CB and leave Barton on his own in the middle.

Col, my original post stated that but it seemed presumptuous with little objective information.

    Alberta - Edmonton? Newfoundland?

None here in Atlantic Canada, actually rain and 16 deg C yesterday, but winter is definitely just around the corner.

I thought we played well but frankly it was a tad hoofball at times. Barton, Hoilett (especially 1st half), Simpson, Dunne, Faulin and Phillips all stood out. Derby were lucky to get a goal as it was no free kick that started that particular attack. The referee was wholly abysmal. 3 points great but my overriding concern is for poor Ale his reaction suggested a nasty injury to his weak knee.

Sorry I didn't mean to suggest that, the positive passing definitely had nothing to do with Henry. I'm just saying that singling him out for criticism is completely unjustified, he did nothing wrong, and (purely incidentally to the performance) he has a tendency to thread balls forward to the edge of the box- which is something we've lacked lately.

I thought the long balls were exactly what the team needed. Recently we'd been becoming predictable with all the fancy passing, and it was frankly dangerous at times Vs Burnley+Wigan- where the back 5 were attempting to play like Brazil.
