Don't actually think he will be sacked after this match anyway. Will be given a little longer, at least the next game or two.
Against these top teams it's the performance I think that matters. We wasn't going there expecting to win today, similar to when we played at Old Trafford in the week but we've been terrible in those two games. I don't think he is getting the best out of the players. The football has improved this season, but with no substance. The Cardiff and Hull games are evident that Hughton cannot identify how to get good service to Hooper or Van Wolfswinkel. They are both good players with good movement but we continue to look at them as some sort of aerial threat, majority of the balls into the box are crosses. Van Wolfswinkel scored a good header against Everton, but you look at his movement and his goals he got for Sporting and it's a complete waste because we can't thread the balls through.
new candidate who has set Bahrain up nicely: http://www.fifa.com/worldfootball/news/newsid=2172916.html
This is true, but you read this board most weeks (if not days) and you have seen what has been discussed since way back in February. What is happening now is not just a recent phenomena. Something happened around the turn of the year, lord alone knows what, and the team have not been the same since bar the odd decent performance. I am still not shouting for CH to go, but will not be surprised if he does leave this week (one way of the other). However, if we do not win next weekend, ask me again.
I sincerely hope not, because a defeat to West Ham would probably be highly significant come the end of the season. He's finished. Get rid of him. Tomorrow.
Unfortunately I agree with you, but at the end of the day things are not going to change for the better. The phrase 'lost the dressing room' springs to mind, it was clear to see today that the players seemed as if they were going through the motions with no real fight in their bellies. If McNally doesn't act now all he is doing is putting off the inevitable and putting us in an even worse position for when the new man takes charge IMO
Who would you guys even replace Hughton with? I can only really think of Tony Pulis as a premier league quality manager who's out of work?
Thing is if it goes tits up next week against West Ham, it will turn really nasty afterwards and even as one of CH's biggest critics I don't want him to have to go through that. McNally should think on that
I agree the effort was not there which is shocking really. The players are paid enough to go out and work their socks off each week even if they don't like the manager. The other issue with sacking him is many of the backroom staff will follow. Not sure losing Dave Watson for example is a good thing. Of course would depend on who the new manager wants to bring in.
If Tony Pulis took over, I would completely give up... I feel so sorry for Hughton, if he was as good as manager as he is a decent bloke we would be flying.... unfortunetly he's not and it's time for him to make way.
I wonder if we could persuade Mackay after all this assistant manager mess. Dyche, Zola, Atkins are I suppose possible candidates from the Championship. I would look abroad, I don't know many candidates off the top of my head but I saw Tuchel mentioned who doesn't seem a bad shout.
There's no point. Hughton is no better or worse than Pulis, di Matteo, Holloway, Jol, Coleman etc. That's why they're all out of work - or hanging on by their fingernails. Just saw this name mentioned, though I have to say it meant nothing to me - Rene Meulensteen ?
If as some fans seem to want, you are looking for a manager who will play"good football" there are very few british candidates. If you want a motivator then there are a few but barely prem quality
It would be a gamble to bring someone else in, but what alternative have we got? You can't carry on getting pastings like we have recently. All team spirit will be removed and the players won't want to perform for the manager and even each other. I can only think of maybe Zola, Roberto Di Matteo or Pullis.
Didn't he have a lot of continental managers lined up as replacements for Lambert? I remember there was only two British based managers on the list at the time one of which being Hughton.
