Very balanced meal though. But carrots with pasta..? Just don't let the relies know. Ol' Great Grandma Rossi would turn in her grave.
For the best that he is not risked, if that big lump Huth stands on his foot he will be out for the rest of the year
Okay, this might be my favourite article of the year: Martin Keown: Saints remind me of Barca. No, not for the sentiment...rather, after that effusive praise, he goes on to pick Stoke to win.
Good article. They all say the same thing, but I can never stop hearing it. As for the prediction, he obviously feels that Stoke should beat us 3.0 and our superb defence will just be doing damage limitation. I always think of Stoke as a tough organised side...sometimes old thinking is hard to eradicate. Big strong side beats Fancy Dans every time. Or he did his predictions on the back of a *** packet on the train. Have to take notice of Keown's analysis as he was part of one of the best defensive back fours in my memory...and they always seemed to win from set plays as well. Won titles for Arsenal so don't knock it!
Ha! That Keown article is ridiculous. Opening paragraph ends "They've kept 6 clean sheets, lost just once & gained impressive results at Anfield and Old Trafford". Prediction... 1-0 Stoke. Just hope we don't got proving all this lot right! As last season, when Lawro *finally* predicted a win for us- at home to QPR...
Someone's due a spanking. Might as well be Stoke, but in deference to their being at home, I'll keep the score a bit lower than my heart says. 3-0. Saints to dominate nearly as much as last week. Vin
We keep expecting to thrash someone, but we have to accept that we are not a high scoring team anymore. We totally dominated Fulham (Rickie described it as Saints best performance) but only managed two.
The one negative from last Saturday was that, with all our dominance, we didn't score in the second half. I don't expect us to have anywhere near the possession away to stoke that we had at home to fulham, but I do expect us to win. Jesus, I haven't said that for years, hope I haven't jinxed it.
We had 20 shots against Fulham (14 in the first half; that's how much we reduced the pressure in the second half). Some weeks that'll mean no goals, some it'll mean 2 goals and sometimes it'll mean 6. I'd agree with you if we weren't creating chances. Some day a good proportion will go in. I don't care when it is, but it'll happen. Meanwhile, down the other end, they'll not be scoring against us. Which is nice. Vin
Anyone know any pubs in b'mouth showing the match? Can't get any live streams to work on my computer for any length of time.
Enjoyed this from a Stoke fan: 'For some reason (yet to be defined) Southampton despite lacking any real world football credibility have a support that seems to think they’re better than anyone else. This massive chip on shoulder isn’t short-term either. Our promotion season had them licking themselves to sleep every night over their own brilliance with Adkins and unfortunately Pottechino (sp) continues the myth. They have spent a lot of money in a short space – but they’re hardly Barcelona. If a functional and well drilled outfit (West Ham) stopped the hyped enigma – then a Hughes one can also.'
